"Okay, but seriously, we're going shopping before the party tonight," Lydia states as she chases after Stacy. "Jeez, Stace, would you slow down?!"
The scrimmage was today, the final determinant of the lacrosse roster this year, and Coach would kill Stacy if she was late. "Lydia, take your heels off and catch up with me. You know I have to be at the field on time," Stacy sighed, pushing open the double doors.
"And go barefoot?!"
Stacy chuckled, slowing down a bit to allow Lydia to catch up. "So, yes to shopping?" Lydia pleaded.
"Alright!" Stacy relents, continuing across the grass to the lacrosse field. "But we're not going crazy on spending. You know I have a budget."
It wasn't so much a budget, but more of a concern for money in her household. Stacy's mom, Julia Ledger, worked overtime at the hospital to pay for her kids' necessities, and Stacy took up hours at the marine biology center, but the Ledger house had been tight on expenses since Stacy's father died. He had been on a hunting trip with some friends, the Winchesters, and there was an accident. Julia Ledger learned all the details, but she never shared the full story with her children, who were seven and four years old at the time of their father's death.
"Boo," Lydia pouted, following one of her only true friends across the field. "You know that I can pay for it."
"But I don't want you to Lydia," Stacy sighed, setting her bag down on the bleachers. "I do appreciate it though. Regardless, yes, I will go shopping with you. Let's bring Allison too!"
"Great idea!" Lydia grinned. "Ooh! There she is!"
Stacy turned to see Allison walking across the field, bundled up in her jacket. The brunette waved at the two girls, who both waved back. Stacy turned back to Lydia, shrugging on the jacket that Stiles had given her the day before. "Okay, I gotta go. See you later?"
"See ya!" Lydia smiled and Stacy turned to go, only to crash into Stiles.
"Sorry!" Stiles apologized, grabbing Stacy's arms to steady her. "Dude, we gotta talk."
"Okayyyy," Stacy nodded. "Can we do it later?"
"No, now," Stiles claimed. He glanced over Stacy's shoulder at Allison and Lydia before looking back down at Stacy. "Let's... uh... walk and talk."
"What's wrong? You're more spazzy than usual," Stacy noticed as Stiles followed her to the middle of the field.
"Well, I heard my dad talking on the phone about a fiber analysis police took off the body and sent to that lab. They got the samples back."
"And?"
"They were animal hairs. Wolf hairs."
Stacy stopped walking and whirled to face Stiles. "So, what are you saying? Do you think a wolf killed that girl? And was the same one that bit Scott?"
"I don't know but it makes the most sense, right?"
"STILINSKI! LEDGER! ASSES ON THE FIELD!" comes Coach's voice.
"We'll talk about this later," Stacy promises as they hurry onto the field.

Scott was ecstatic because he made first line.
Stacy was proud of him, but she was growing increasingly concerned with Scott's uncharacteristic lacrosse abilities that had just arrived out of nowhere. Clearly, Stiles was worried too.
Stacy went shopping last-minute with Allison and Lydia after the scrimmage, thinking about Scott's performance while Lydia complained about not having any clothes at home to wear for the party. Lydia then picked out a pretty blue cocktail dress that reached Stacy's mid-thigh, insisting that her friend needed to wear it at the party. Stacy finally agreed and got in line to buy it when Stiles called her.
