The leaves rustled in the wind as a creature chased after its prey. The sounds of screams echoed through the night sky before it went quiet.

The soldier stood there, petrified, his body refusing to move a single atom. The gun trembled in his hand, whispering prayers to God, who could lend him some help.

"I-I have a family..." He attempted to have a conversation with the creature, but it only took a step forward, its lips parting as if it were going to speak.

"No, stop it! Stop it!" The once brave soldier fell to his knees, clutching his ears as he was forced to take in unwanted information that could change his perspective of the world.

He knew what he had to do.

The soldier stared at the gun, which had fallen to the ground. He whimpered as he grabbed it, placing the muzzle against his head.

If only God had given him more time to run.

He pulled the trigger as a single tear rolled down his cheek.

"Haven't you heard?"

"Hm?"

"The General of the Continental Army found one of his soldiers lying dead on the ground!"

The room suddenly got quiet.

"Fuck."

Everyone screamed and panicked, some of them even running into the walls as they desperately tried to escape through the door.

"Quiet down!" A voice ordered. Ethan Allen stood at the front of the door, a look of disappointment in his face.

"You men are soldiers, not properly trained, but the best soldiers out there." He massaged the bridge of his nose. "It is but a little rumor that the British have begun to spread."

"But, sir-!"

"Silence, soldier!"

No one batted to say a word.

"Even if the rumor was true, that shall not stop us from achieving our freedom!"

The Green Mountain Boys roared with pride as they pumped their fists into the air.

"Can I add something—?"

"Not a word, Arnold."
