I watched her hips sway out of my office with cold indifference.
This indifference I have practiced for over a decade is nothing but a facade; a mask to hide the truth behind every action I have taken to get me where I am today—to get me her.
The time I have spent to prepare us for this is not going to be thrown away due to some carnal desire. I did not distance myself from her deliberately, just to throw it all away at one meeting, at the very first instance where her attention was finally set on me.
I have far too much control for that. Or perhaps not. If I had as much control as I claim, then I wouldn't have rushed to the chair she sat on and knelt before the leather like some lovesick puppy.
I wouldn't have set my cheek on the very cushion her perfect skirt-clad ass sat on. I certainly wouldn't have caught wind of her fading perfume and gripped onto the chair as my cock tented my pants.
I sure as fuck wouldn't have pressed further into the leather to feel the remainder of her warmth upon my skin as I pawed at the tension rubbing against my zipper.
I would have come in three seconds flat if it wasn't for the knock at my door; no doubt Alex was back from walking Ivory to her destination. So, instead of acting like a hormone-driven sex demon I mustered up my control and stood.
Which, given the size of my erection was not the best idea, and certainly not appropriate if I wished to have a conversation with my secretary.
I quickly take a seat in the very chair I was nearly drooling on seconds ago and pick up the contract she left on the table, pretending to read it as Alex walks into my office.
"Sir," he coughs as he stands from behind my shoulder, "Ms. Jones has been safely guided to an Uber that will take her wherever she needs to."
I nod, flipping through the contract to keep up my act of sanity, "Good."
"If I may speak freely sir--
I sigh, setting down the paper in my lap, partly as a guise to hide my erection better but also because I'm sure what he wishes to say will garner my full attention, "Alex, we talked about this. You've been my best friend for years, stop treating me like I'm some tyrant boss and call me Theo."
He pushes his glasses up his nose, his posture relaxing, "Yes, I know Theo."
"Good, now sit and let's talk."
He shifts to take the seat beside me, his legs crossed as he places his hands in his lap, "I'm concerned."
"About?"
"Your choice of a bride."
I try not the let agitation fester. I cannot show myself to be angry with such a neutral sentence, even if what he might say next would be unpleasant.
"Why?"
"Well," he takes a breath, "There are so many well-suited options. Women of equal standing to you, and would be much more beneficial in—
"I don't want some prissy entitled rich girl whose dream is to become a trophy wife, the contract wouldn't work. There would be complications."
Not to mention, none of them are her. It has to be her. Or else this was all for nothing.
"With all due respect, there are already complications. For fucks sake the girl had accumulated a debt in the millions! And you didn't even question why? Or how?" he grows anxious, his concern showing as he loosens his tie.
"I don't see how this is a complication. I've already given her the means to pay it off, so it shouldn't be a problem. If anything, it was good she had debt, a problem I could fix," I tap my fingers along the arm of my chair.
Plus, I already know the details behind her debt.
"How is that a good thing?"
I shrug, "It gave her the incentive she needed, she needed me, and I need her."
"Alright, then what about her class?" I watch him shift in his seat, this topic something he probably never imagined having to speak about. Especially not in a way that would paint someone in an ill light.
Alex himself comes from poverty, so the fact he has to play pretend and worry about this is like a knife through the heart.
"As much as I hate to point this out, she's poor Theo. She doesn't come from a family of power, she's simply average. How do you expect to convince people of your love if everyone around you will try to tear you apart simply because of this?"
He does make a point. Unfortunately, the kinds of people that surround me due to my wealth are all money-hungry cock suckers who look down on those without.
However, their desperations for power will keep them in check. After all who would want to displease the man who could tank their wealth with a wave of my hand?
"Alex. Do you think I would allow it to go that far? At the end of the day, no one will look twice at who I wish to wed if they know that their displeasure will only result in their downfall."
He sighs, "I guess you're right. I'm just worried. She seems like a good person, at least from the months I spent surveilling her for you."
"I would hate for her to get hurt because, well because she'd be getting herself tangled up with the likes of you."
I smile at his concern.
He chuckles and rolls his eyes at me, annoyed, "I still don't understand why you wouldn't go get your own coffee. Didn't you want to see her for yourself?"
"It was easier that way," I can't give him the answer he wants.
He's not aware of how deep my obsession with Ivory is, nor do I want him to know.
All he needs to be aware of is that I chose her and that's that. He doesn't need to know the dirty details, that is my truth to bear and mine alone.
I do feel guilty, but only a little.
I've had time to think this out, to plan every possible outcome. Him knowing the truth behind why I'm doing what I do is insignificant. I'm sure it will all be revealed eventually if everything goes to plan.
If everything goes to plan, then the whole fucking world will know how deep my obsession with, Ivory Malikia Volkov, truly is.
I would be proud of that.
