I was walking happily into the school when I saw it, the note. It was taped to my locker. At first thought it was from Newt until he comes up and stands next to me.

"What's that?" he asks sounding kind of jealous.

"I don't know," I say about to open it.

All it says is 'today, lunch'.

I look up at Newt seeing the worried look in his eyes. "I really should, um, get to class," I say quickly to avoid talking about it.

I try to stop thinking about it, but I can't. Usually I can forget about it in art class, distracting myself by carefully maneuvering my pencil onto the paper, but now I'll have to talk about it with Newt.

As soon as i walk in he gestures me over to his table, I walk over trying not to look him in the eye.

"Hello, love," he tries greeting me enthusiastically but fails miserably.

"Hey," I say putting on my best fake smile.

Today Newt doesn't wait to talk about it, "So you're really going?" he asks.

"I have to," I explain.

"Okay that's your decision but I'm coming with you," he tells me.

I can tell by the tone of his voice and the seriousness of his face that I won't be able to change his mind but I have to try anyway. "Newt you can't."

"Yes I can, love. If I can respect your choice to go meet him, you can respect mine to come along," he says not budging.

"But-" i begin to say but he cuts me off.

"No. I can't let you go alone, I can't. You could get hurt again, or worse. What if you were in my shoes what would you do?"

"Fine but don't do anything please Newt, you'll have to be able to just watch," I try to convince him.

"I make no promises," he replies.

I decide to just leave it at that, he obviously won't be changing his mind.

After class Newt stops me before we head out of the classroom. "You're sure you want to do this?" he asks.

"I have to," I say tears starting to form in my eyes.

Newt takes my hand in his and squeezes, attempting to comfort me, but it doesn't work very well. As we walk behind the school, he doesn't let go of my hand.
