Yata was riding his board around the downtown area, through the crowd of people to just piss them off. He enjoyed being a little punk kid like he is sometimes to people, just for the hell of it. It gave him the attention he felt like he needed. Sure, it's not the best way to get attention but he didn't care, it filled the void temporarily then he needed to do it again. It was a repetitive thing for him whenever he felt the urge to do this. To him, it was important but to others it was a asshole kid being disrespectful.
He stopped near a cafe and kicked up the board to his hand and sat down at one of the tables that was shaded with an umbrella and meant for two. He checked his pockets to see if he had his wallet. Luckily, it was in his pocket. He almost got up to go order until something soft brushed up against his leg.
"What the.." he muttered then looked down to see a average sized silvery-gray cat brushing up against his leg. He huffed and continued to sit, looking at it.
But what he didn't know that this certain cat was a Strain and she was a brilliant Strain, a very cunning one. She uses her cute outlook as a cat to get the free food from strangers she didn't know and if she were to see them again, she would walk over, adding a little hop to her walk to add the cuteness and sassiness to make the person to notice her. She then would purr and jump into their lap if they were sitting down, to mush them up before they gave into giving her food. But how she would get the food is that she uses her power to manipulate them to giving her what she exactly wanted of whatever there was.
But for some reason, this human isn't doing anything, looking down at her. She was disturbed that it wasn't working and it always works on the humans she picks, even the punk kids. Annoyed, she looked up at Yata to see his amber eyes staring at her. The annoyance she felt then melted away, to her, he seemed vacant. She hopped up onto his lap, sitting but she lifted her paw up to his nose and pawed it with her claws retracted.
"What are you doing, cat?" the teenager asked as he pet her head. Her lips curled in a smile as she let out a purr. He sighed, "Great, I am trying to talk to a cat," he groaned, "I am not even hungry anymore..." he trailed off but set her back down on the ground. He got up to leave but she meowed loud, desperately to him.
'What am I doing?' she thought as he stopped looking back down at her.
He sighed and knelt down to her to rub her ear, "I gotta go," he spoke but for reason when he looked into the cats (e/c) eyes, it was like they were wanting him to stay. He took off his beanie and ran his fingers through his hair and put it back on. His fingers moved to under her chin, scratching. She purred so cutely, he couldn't help but smile. "Maybe, I'll stay.." then his stomach growled. He stood up, leaving her there on the ground, confused so she hopped onto the chair he was on before and looked up at him, her tail flicking around. "I'll be back, I am getting food, okay?" he said then walked into the cafe.
She watched him walk in to the cafe and she licked her paw to clean her head. So many questions racked her head, 'Why I am acting like this towards a human?' 'What am I doing?' etc, etc. But he, for some odd reason, is special. She can feel it in him that he's special to her. She curled up in the chair with her head lifted, waiting for the teenage boy to come out back to her.
Minutes later, he came back out with a paper bowl, a water bottle and a plastic bowl. He saw her still there and he smiled. He walked over to the cat who stood up quickly to her feet, smelling the cold cut meats on his sandwich he got. He sat in the other chair across from the silver cat, "I asked the people to give me extra meat slices on the side so I can give some to you and I got this bowl so you have some water," he spoke as if the cat was an actual person. He knew this was crazy and he is getting weird looks for it but this cat doesn't feel ordinary to him, he doesn't know what he is thinking at the moment just that he has attention and it's a good feeling to him.
The cat mewled as he handed her the meat pieces and she took with gratitude then began munching away on her food in the chair. He smiled at the cat then dove into his sandwich. They ate in silence but thinking about to when he was ordering, he remembered the weird look the cashier gave him as he ordered the extra meat slices on the side. His grip tighten on the sandwich, almost crumbling in it in his hands. Condiments got all over his hands and he groaned, "Shit..." he set back down the sandwich in the paper bowl and used one of the napkins. The cat looked up from her lunch and looked at the boy with her head tilted in a adorable way. Yata looked at the cat and shook his head with a chuckle, "This is crazy, what am I even doing?" then he looked inside at the cashier then back to look at a wall, "I mean, for fuck sake's, I am talking to a fucking cat. I mean cats don't talk back and they don't understand," he said all to himself.
The cats flatten, seeing him in this state. She didn't want to see him like this so she hopped into his lap and placed her paws on his chest and licked his face. She stopped and sat again staring up at him, "I can understand you," she spoke telepathically to him.
His eyes widen and he pushed the cat off, "What the h-hell?" he stammered.
She landed on her paws and sighed then disappeared to the alleyway, leaving Yata there confused. But for the first time, she transformed in her human self. She was an average height but a little bit on the shorter side. Her hair was the silver color of her fur and her eyes were still the same (e/c). She wore a over sized gray shirt and (f/c) jeans but she was bare foot. Yata then got up to look in the alley way for the cat but just saw her.
He blushed and stuttered, "Um h-hey did y-you see a g-gray cat come in here?"
(Y/N) sighed, "I am that cat... I just thought I would turn into my human self so you would feel better and why are you all of the sudden stuttering?" she asked, walking up to him.
His hazel eyes widened, "So y-you're like a S-strain right and I am not s-stuttering!" he pouted, lying to himself.
"Exactly and sure, whatever you say," she giggled.
He rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm Yata by the way..." he blushed.
"I'm (Y/N) and nice to meet you," she smiled then she grabbed his board, reflecting on her cat's nature of curiosity and stood on it, "Teach me!" she giggled, holding out her hands to him.
Yata by now is flabbergasted, so a cat is actually a Strain and a pretty cute one and she just took to him in a instant. But he relaxed and took her hands, beginning to teach her how to ride a skateboard in a alleyway.
