The dreams or nightmares didn't happened for two days but things were different over the two days, no one spoke to each other in HOMRA and (Y/N) began to wonder again, leaving Yata's side for hours on end to come back to be unmissed as barely anyone would acknowledge her presence. The members of HOMRA became so translucent and very introverted. As the road to find the killer became harder so the road to get Mikoto out of jail as well, they didn't know what to do, Anna had started to come to be a little doubtful in saving Mikoto and Mr. Kusanagi spoke very little on what needed to happen to solve Tatara's death. HOMRA wasn't like the family that she came into. The family started to break away from each other.
The first day, she traveled to the area where she first met Yata, at that small cafe. It wasn't too long ago it happened either but she doesn't remember how many days have passed by since then. But as the flashback vividly came back to her, she remembers a small feeling that happened that day but she doesn't know what it was, only what she learned and saw from everyone around her. But he took her in and gave her a home that day. But that home was no longer a home to her. Then when she came home, Yata slept in the lobby as she slept alone in his room with no warmth.
As dawn rose up, she did too, she used the clothes from before and she went downstairs to only see Yata coming up. It played out so perfectly to be a movie scene. His eyes locked with hers and no words were exchanged only the language that the body could give off and his was incoherent while hers became a wall against everyone else. She walked past him and out the door as he just stared at her, leaving, remembering what it was like when Saruhiko left. Their backs were facing him as he stared at them, walking away, leaving.
The day dragged on and she just wondered to all of the places she could and traveling as far as the highschool island. The time became so lost to her, it didn't occur to her to go back.
Then an bizarre, almost madman idea came into her mind. She was going to call onto the Masked Man. Under the bridges and out of sight, she just sat there and closed her eyes. She began searching for him throughout the whole city, trying to pinpoint him. Then a small chuckle came from behind her, her eyes opened up and she stood, not ready to face him yet.
"So, you finally realized that he was a bad guy after all, did you Mona?" he teased her and tsked, "At least, you didn't make me come and find you this time, you were hard to find for awhile you know that right?" he began to stroll up to her, "I mean since that quake you just disappeared, out of sight, poof. But here you are, in front of me just like old times. Say for old time sakes, let's go... horse around as people would call it nowadays. Me and you, just like before."
By now, they were looking at each other and she was greeted by that mask she hated so much. A sharp intake of air, "Why are you calling me Mona? Who are you?" she asked all too quickly.
"Because you're Mona and I'm the Seventh King, the Colorless King," he bowed all too highly of himself then he looked at her after the bow, "And you are my follower, my sole clansman, Mona."
"But I don't remember you nor do I have a mark of your clan."
"But you do," then he reached up and touched her right cheek as he did, her cheek felt like it was on fire as a etching of what seemed like the kanji for 'Fox' was there, "It only comes up when I need it to just like now to show you. Don't you remember Mona? The times we had together were splendid!" he laughed as memories were there between them, "Remember those nights together? Glorious acts of pure power!"
She backed up two steps, "Stop calling me Mona... I'm (Y/N). Ya-... Just (Y/N)," she became flustered and the street lights overhead were turning on and the sound of traffic was lessening, "And what are you talking about? What nights? What power? Are you talking about the torture you sent me through? The hell ?"she hissed at him.
He just laughed at her, "That was a lesson, my dear sweet Mona," he approached her and stretched a hand to her cheek but she flinched. The mask blocked all of his face and it was impossible to see what he looks like but she knew he just smirked the whole time, "Tsk, tsk... I remember the days where you begged for a single touch from me and now you just reject them. Such a bipolar girl now, aren't you?"
She looked at him and reached out to rip off the mask but he grabbed her hand roughly, "Naughty Mona... don't be so rash," he whispered, "Maybe another time, when you remember about you and I."
"Piss off," she muttered.
Then he dropped her hand and groaned as he began to pace back and forth, "That HOMRA boy is rubbing off on you, almost making you seem like a human. Disgusting things."
"He didn't do anything," she snapped at him.
"Oh so you're defending him? How cute as she doesn't even remember her own loyalty."
"(Y/N)!" a voice echoed from above. Her eyes darted towards the voice and back as the masked man wasn't in front of her but he stood behind her.
"Remember that, you were loyal to me first, little kitty," he whispered into her ear then a gust of wind sent chills down her spine.
"(Y/N)!"
She ran up the hill towards the street before the bridge and saw a panting Yata with his skateboard and a baseball bat in his hand ready for anything to happen. His eyes landed on the girl and he dropped the bat and ditched the skateboard to run towards her and then engulfed in a hug. She stood still as her heart started to pound against her crest. His grip never lessened and she wrapped her arms slowly around him, hugging him back.
"Yata?" she whispered into his ear.
"I'm sorry (Y/N)... let's go back please..." he let her go and took her hand to start walking back but she gripped to make him look at her.
"How did you know to find me here?" she asked him.
He sighed and let go of her hand to run both hands through his hair, "You weren't coming back and I could tell from this morning as you were walking away and as the day came closer to an end, I knew I needed to find you and I just happened to run into the kid that we need to catch, Isana Yashiro but he told me that he saw you here with someone and I knew that finding you ... I don't know. But come on, let's g-"
"No."
"What do you mean? Come on, (Y/N), don't be ridiculous..." then he saw her cheek, "What the hell happened to your cheek?!"
"Go home Yata..."
"Come home with me!" he begged, "Tell me who did that to you!"
"I-I... I can't, just please go," then she looked down as some tears were beginning to fall down.
He couldn't speak, there was a large rock in his throat and the words disappeared. He just looked at her in disbelief. Then she couldn't feel his being there anymore and just heard the sound of a skateboard with the wheels feeling the ground and creating a sound that caused her a headache as the quietness of the place was disrupted.
She dropped to her knees and sat there for a while until he came back and took her to a place that was foreign to her.
