Derek woke up, smelling something horrible
He immediately woke up and had a feeling that Meredith's colostomy bag was leaking so he checked and was indeed right. He sat up and quickly checked
He was right..
"Mer, you gotta wake up." He tried
"Tired-" She groaned
"Your colostomy bag has been leaking, we'll need to place a new one after you shower." He sadly said, knowing how insecure she could be
"What?" She jumped up, tears immediately leaving her eyes as she sprinted to the bathroom
"I'll change the sheets really quick." He said and started while Meredith removed the bag and cleaned up most of it before she stepped in the shower but starting to sob right away
After a while Derek enters, he had turned on the washing machine right away, this wasn't the first time this had happened
"Mer?" He quickly removed his clothes and got in with her, holding her as she sobbed in his arms
"Sorry- So sorry-" She whimpered
"Don't apologize." Derek kissed her head. He took a washingcloth and started cleaning her. Meredith accepted the gesture and just remained still, not letting go of her husband's arm
He kissed her head and led her out of the shower, covering her with several towels and placing a new colostomy bag, making sure it was attached well
"I think we gotta go to bed. Can I hook you up to your night feeding, please?"
"Fine." Meredith sighed, affected by what happened the past hour
"I'll get your warm pajamas first." Derek said and got super warm pajamas, knowing she was always cold
He returned and helped her getting dressed, he hooked up her tube feeding and climbed in besides her, spooning her close to his chest
"No need to feel bad about this, Mer. I promise." Derek whispered
He was tired, so was Meredith. He fell asleep but Meredith found it hard, she struggled a lot with her current body. It wasn't cooperating at all, leaving her tired and in discomfort almost all the time
"Mama?" She was pulled out of her thoughts as her daughter walked inside
"Hi monkey, come inside, daddy's asleep." She explained
Meredith quickly removed her feeding tube and let her daughter climb in her arms
"I had bad dweam." Ellis started telling her
"Oh really? I promise mommy and daddy will keep you safe." Meredith kissed the girl's head
"Luf mama." She muttered as she drifted off
"Love you too, my little princess."

Derek woke up, he saw his daughter tangled up in her mother's arms but also spotted the unfinished tube feeding. He sighed and got up, he decided to go make them breakfast in a try to compensate
"Aww." He heard his wife wince as he climbed out of bed
"Mer?" Derek frowned
"Pain-" Meredith whimpered
"I'll get your meds, what's hurting?" Derek asked her, really concerned by his wife's paleness
"Stomach and feel like a noodle." She groaned weakly
Derek let her swallow her meds, moved the feeding tube and hooked her up again, scared it would be caused by the lack of nutrition
"Do you want me to stay with you?" He asked, stroking her hair softly
"No.. fine." Meredith muttered, closing her eyes
"I'll be in the kitchen, I'll leave the door open for you if you need me." Derek kissed her forehead softly and tucked her in
Derek started cooking, after a while he heard his daughter walking inside. "Hey monkey." He smiled
"Daddy!" She giggled and let him lift her, cuddling her stuffed animal close to her chest
"Hey sweet princess, how did you sleep?" He asked, placing her on the counter
"Good! Lots of cuddles from mommy." She giggled
"I saw you were in our bed!" Derek winked, letting her take a bit of a strawberry
"Yummy!" Ellis giggled softly
"Super yummy, right?" Derek smiled and flipped the pancakes, waiting until they were finished
"I gots to wake mommy?" The little girl asked
"I'll go wake her up in a minute." Derek said, wanting to check if she felt better
"Kay!" Ellis giggled
Derek placed her down and asked her to go play for just a little while so he could check on his wife
"Mer?" He carefully entered
"I'm awake." She whispered. "Can you just help me up?"
Derek helped her on her feet, giving her one of his sweaters in a try to keep her warm as she was so cold
"Ellis is awake, breakfast is ready to be served. Go do your routine and I'll make sure all is finished by then
Meredith quietly left the room and disappeared into the bathroom, starting her morning routine which was quite extended
Derek started reading his emails on his phone while Ellis was eating breakfast, the girl humming along with the tv
"What do you wanna do all day, princess?" Derek asked her
"Mama home too?" She asked
"Mommy's gotta go to work so it's just you and me today." He said and the two of them started making some plans
After a while Meredith entered the kitchen, taking some water and sitting down next to Ellis
"Mama, gots to do piggies!" She giggled
"I'll do your hair once you've finished your pancake." Meredith assured her
"Don't you want some fruit?" Derek offered
"I'll have breakfast at the hospital, I'm working on my research anyway." She explained, kissing Ellie's head
"I gots miss you, mama." Ellis said
"What about we have lunch together at the hospital? We can bring food and eat it in mommy's office?" Derek offered
"Yes mama! Can we?" The little girl asked
"Of course, little princess." Meredith chuckled. "Guess I'll see you later then."
I have no real plan for this story except doing something else than usual lol. Does someone have ideas?
