"S-Sasha," Mikasa's grey orb made their way over to the girl standing at the threshold of the door, the air around her a cloudy grey from the smoking gun.
"Mikasa, Eren... Are you alright?" she asked as she let the piece fall to the floor.
"Yeah..." Eren replied as he hugged both girls warmly, " how did you know we were here?"
"I sensed something wasn't right, I asked Connie for his gun and when he wouldn't give it to me...I stole it," Sasha's voice became silent as her eyes trailed down to the dead body at her feet, his ashy hair was stained with the blood surrounding him, "I...did...this.."
"You saved us!" Mikasa exclaimed, supporting the brunette's shaken figure and turning her away from the grisly scene.
"I-I couldn't save her....Oh my God...MIKASA, I COULDN'T SAVE HER!" Her loud sobs tore through the ravenette's heart. The tears pouring down her sullen brown eyes seemed like a never ending waterfall, and soon instigated some tears of her own. The two fell to the floor, Sasha cradled in the bosom of her dear friend, much like a distressed child.
Mikasa tried her best to comfort her best friend, but she seemed practically inconsolable. She looked toward Eren, who was kneeling next to her dead body, and finally understood Sasha's distraught demeanor. She wasn't able to save the girl who risked her life for them. Who stared down the barrel of a gun at her own risk. It was a tragic sight, her blonde gold hair, tainted red. Her bright blue eyes, dull and cold, and in between them, a hole that festered with blood. But the strangest thought tantalized her wandering mind, "Is she...smiling...?"

"Sasha? Are you alright?"
"Huh? Oh yeah I'm fine, thanks Connie..." Sasha shook off her gruesome thoughts as she looked up toward her newly-wedded husband. His pale green eyes shining brightly with excitement as they trailed down toward her swollen belly.
"I can't believe it's been a year already Sasha!"
"Yes.... It seems like such a long time since then, my my how time flies, speaking of which... I'm hungry!" At the sudden statement, the group laughed, happy that their dear friend was seemingly back to normal, and so was her appetite.
"Yeah, if I do recall, that's the reason we broke up," Said Armin with a smirk.
"WOAH! Armin, you guys DATED?!?!?"
"Oh that's right Eren, you weren't here..." Mikasa's sweet smile made the confounded brunette blush with nostalgia. She tightened her grip on his interlocked arm as they laughed together.
"Yeah, those were pretty hard times...weren't they? I remember Mikasa was so devastated..." Armin looked over at the pair, both seemed lost in thought, most likely thinking about the troubling times they'd gone through, each having a different experience altogether, "But that's in the past, after all you two are getting married in six months, aren't you?"
The couple looked at the blonde graciously, thankful that he shook them out of their painful memories and into their new present, "yes," Mikasa answered her voice light with emotion, "it'll be on the anniversary of when we met."
"Well I'm glad everything worked out!" Connie said with a smile.
The group had finally reached the place in which they would part ways. Eren and Mikasa would go back to their cozy home near the beach, while Sasha and Connie would go grab a bite to eat- after all, an expectant Sasha is much more hungry than a normal Sasha- and Armin, well, Armin had a prior engagement with a girl he had recently met whom the group only referred to as 'Annie'.
Mikasa and Eren waved goodbye to their group as they got into his car, they rolled down the windows letting the wind blow briskly on their faces. Eren looked at his fiancée tenderly, the warm glow from the setting Sun enhancing her already radiant features. This was their new reality, the terrible time they had spent without each other felt like a distant fading memory, a different life even."Mikasa," Eren started breaking the comfortable silence, " I want you to know that I never stopped wanting to find you...even when I lost my memory."
"Eren why are yo-" Mikasa stopped dead in her tracks, eyes widened as she saw Eren's bright green orbs fill to the brim with tears. He was pouring his heart out to her, something he seldom did....not out of mistrust, but out of love. He didn't want people to pity him or worry about him, he didn't like causing problems or giving other people a foreign burden. "Eren," she finally muttured quietly, "I never stopped believing you were alive, and then one night I heard your voice and I saw you, it may have been only for a second or maybe even less... But that was the most memorable second of my life. After so many people started to doubt that you were alive, and openly shared those feelings with me...I started to doubt myself and came to the conclusion that if you really were dead... I would resign myself from love."
"Mika..." Eren placed his hand gently on her knee, for a moment he stayed quiet, lost in a peaceful thought, "if I never found you, I would've felt compelled to never love anyone again."
Mikasa looked out towards the window, hiding the giddy smile on her face, "somehow...I doubt that we would've never seen each other again."
As the gleaming ocean came into view, the car began to slow down until it finally made a complete stop. They made their way to their back porch, watching the Sun set far beyond the horizon, the colors once vibrantly dancing in the sky were fading slowly as the night revealed itself along with the bright twinkling stars.
"Mikasa, I'm going to go to bed, are you coming?"
"I think I'll stay out here for a while longer..." Eren nodded as he leaned in and kissed her tenderly, ever since they were reunited they had tried to make every moment count, this 'goodnight kiss' was no different. Eren made sure to let her know he was restraining himself, she did the same, nibbling on his lower lip sending tingles through their bodies. They broke away. Mikasa smiled as she could feel the blood rush to her cheeks and Eren's breath still warm on her lips, he smiled and strokes her cheek warmly.
"Goodnight Mikasa, I'll see you tomorrow morning."
As soon as she was sure Eren was fast asleep, she went inside quietly tiptoeing to her desk. She grabbed a piece of paper and her own and began to write,
'My Dearest Eren,
There has been so many things that have happened in our lives. Many things that we don't specifically share, for fear of remembering the past or maybe worse, reliving it. I found that over the years I would visit your now nonexistent tombstone and place down a letter or two a day, at one point, there were 300 letters I had written to my elusive Eren. It seems rather excessive, looking back on it, but maybe I was crazy? I'm not exactly sure or maybe it was my way of coping with your disappearance... Of course there's no need for that anymore, you're here...with me. However in order for things to end I think they must end the way they began... We've already done the whole, meet again at a traumatic event...but I haven't sent my letter to you quite yet...you know, the letter that reunited us in the first place? That's why, my temperamental Brunette, I will write this final letter to... you...'~FIN~
