The mansion stood silent and imposing around Josie as she paced through its luxurious halls, her footsteps echoing off the marble floors. The weight of unease settled heavily on her shoulders, a knot of tension tightening in her chest. She couldn't shake the feeling of dread that had taken hold of her since finding that ominous letter in Hope's office.

Images flashed through Josie's mind, the words of the letter haunting her thoughts like a sinister melody. Who could have written it? And why target her wife? Penelope's name whispered through her mind like a ghost, her past actions casting a long shadow over Josie's thoughts.

Josie's jaw clenched with frustration and anger. She refused to be a victim again, refused to let her family be threatened by some faceless enemy. The thought of her wife and daughters caught in the crossfire ignited a flame within her, driving her to search for answers.

She moved from room to room, her steps purposeful yet uncertain, her mind racing with possibilities. Every corner held a potential threat, every shadow seemed to conceal a hidden danger. Josie's heart pounded in her chest, the fear and anger swirling together in a tumultuous storm.

Josie let out a soft sigh, rising her head just a bit as her eyes looked around. She was in the dark kitchen. Reaching for the light switch next to her, she flicked it on, and for a mere moment, she saw it.

The glass door shattering, the ricochet of the bullets hitting the walls, the pans, the table, anything and everything. Her wife running for cover as they both tried to shield themself from the danger.

It was like that day had happen all over again with the flick of a switch. But when she blinked, it was all gone, shutting off.

Josie felt her heart raising, her body shaking as her feet refused to move from its spot. Nothing had happen, it was just her memories coming back at her, but it felt real, like she was witnessing that day all over again.

"Dammit" Josie muttered under her breath. "Fucken damnit" she said once more, running her hand through her hair, trying to calm herself. It was the first time in a long time that Josie had those terrifying nightmares, those flashbacks, of all the bad Penelope had done to not only to her but to her wife.

Josie grit her teeth, turning around and headed upstairs. For once in her life, her home, a place of peace, and safety felt anything but--

"Fucking Penelope" she said once more as she reached the top of the stairs.

Josie pressed on, her determination driving her forward. She needed answers, and she needed them now. With a resolute breath, she entered Hope's home office once more, her gaze falling on the sleek laptop resting on the desk. It was a long shot, but perhaps there would be something on there that could shed light on the situation.

But Josie couldn't do it. She couldn't turn on the device, let alone open it. She already checked the computer at work, and if she couldn't find anything there, then what made Josie think she could find anything now. She leaned back, her eyes staring at the ceiling.

She felt it, even now yet didn't want to give it away.

Slowly, she got up from her seat, moving towards the door, and exiting the room. The feeling following her as she walked through the halls and towards her bedroom.

Her bedroom

Her safe place

Her comfort.

With trembling hands, Josie pushed open the door and stepped into the room, her eyes sweeping over the familiar surroundings. But as she moved further into the room, her gaze fell upon something that made her blood run cold.
