Chasing a trash bag was not on Avalia's 2024 bingo card, but here she was. The trash bag ran through the crowds of people in the library and up flights of stairs.

"Move, people!" Avalia shouted as she ran toward the bag. Phoebe politely ran by, Podcast following.

"Are you always this nice?" Avalia asked Phoebe as they dashed out of the library.

"Most of the time," Phoebe replied. "I mean one time I cursed my mom out. That wasn't very nice."

"You know, I've never heard you curse." Phoebe looks over at her crush for a split second.

"Didn't expect it from a girl in overalls?" Phoebe questioned.

"No, not at all." The two laughed until they remembered what the original mission was. They searched for any possible bags until they spotted a black garbage bag. They headed towards the bag. Podcast started kicking it.

"Do we pick it up yet?" Avalia asked.

"No!" Podcast and Phoebe shouted in unison. Avalia groaned until she heard something behind them. The statue right in front of the museum was coming to life.

"Dr. Ray!" Phoebe exclaimed.

"The bike! Push the bike!" Dr. Stanz shouted. The three teens rushed over to the motorcycle thing they used to get there. Podcast sat in the front seat, hitting random buttons.

"Press the button!" Phoebe yelled.

"There's too many buttons!" Avalia helped by clicking a button on the right, which made the seat Phoebe was sitting in open up. Podcast high fived the blond girl.

"Wasn't that difficult," Avalia replied, flipping her hair. Phoebe let out a small smirk but quickly snapped out of her trance. She grabbed the gun and cut off the statue's tail. She was ready to blast it when all of a sudden, it stopped working.

"Podcast, Val, do something!" Phoebe panicked.

"I'm trying!"

"Fuck, I'm gonna die at sixteen!" Avalia refocused and quickly pressed the button she had hit before, which caused the gun to fire up once more. Phoebe hit the statue as it pounced her, shattering into pieces right in front of her eyes. Pieces of the statue flew on cars, near policemen, and even onto Avalia. Avalia cried for help as the pain worsened by the second. Phoebe rushed over to try to help her, but was stopped by the police.

"Your hands where we can see 'em!" The officer shouted.

"But what about her?" Phoebe asked, looking back over to Avalia.

"Your girlfriend will be fine," the officer stated. Phoebe raised her hands up as a group of police officers surrounded her to help. Phoebe felt bad that she dragged Avalia into this mess. All she wanted to do was talk to her about the previous day, but now she's hurt. The thing on Avalia's mind was why everyone was calling her Phoebe's girlfriend? And how would her aunt react?

——

Once the officers finally got Avalia feeling better, they sent her to the station to visit Phoebe and Podcast. She walked inside next to two policemen, looking around for Phoebe. She eventually found her getting yelled at by a man. Phoebe looked up at her and grinned.

"What happened? Are you okay-" Phoebe pulled Avalia into a tight hug and started crying. Avalia was the first to pull away and held onto Phoebe's hands.

"I'm just happy you're alive. And safe. And you still look the same." Phoebe's rambling made Avalia want to kiss her right there, but of course they couldn't. Not when the mayor walked in angrily.

"Magnifigue!" The mayor exclaimed, slowly clapping like a Disney villain. The two released hands quickly and turned to Mayor Peck. Avalia held back an eye roll. "My compliments to the chef. As far as fiascos go, this was just dynamite."

"I hope you get blown up by dynamite," Avalia muttered quietly to herself."

"One would think, though, you'd have a little more respect for the public library, you being such a bookworm."

"Get off of her dick, man!" Avalia groaned.

"What did you just say to me, young lady?"

"Why don't you just back off." The man, Winston glared at Avalia, who huffed.

"I just want to thank her," Mayor Peck replied.

"For what?" Phoebe asked.

"For 40 years, I've been waiting to say these words." There was a slight pause in Mayor Peck's sentence. "The Ghostbusters are finished." The silence filled the room. "Your firehouse has been condemned. Your packs are in a police lockup. They're be melted down for scrap by morning. Just wait until I get a hold of your car."

"Now just hold on a-"

"The last time you tried to shut us down, you created a crossrip into another dimension." Avalia's jaw practically dropped as she saw Phoebe's outburst. That's my girl, she thought to herself.

"Watch out, kiddo. That sounds a lot like slander. That's a crime punishable with time in prison. So let me ask you, Miss Spengler. Are you going to behave...or do I need to have you arrested?" Avalia grabbed Phoebe's hand and squeezed it.

"It's not worth it. Call him all the names you want at home, but prison?" Avalia whispered. "Just please, think about it." Phoebe looked too pissed to care about prison at the moment.

——

Avalia waited outside of the prison as she slowly dialed her aunt's number. Her hands were shaking as she nervously pressed the last digit and let it ring in her ear.

"Where the hell are you?"

"At the station," Avalia replied timidly. She started tearing up since she was alone except for two officers at the ends of the room.

"What the fuck, Avalia! Why are you there!" Aunt Ellie screamed from the other end of the phone.

"My friend is in there, I'm just waiting for her," Avalia muttered into the phone.

"Who, Sammy?"

"No, this other girl I like." Oh shit. Avalia messed up.

"Oh hell no! Avalia, you better stop liking her or else you'll go to hell!" Avalia felt her eyes start to water.

"I'm sorry," Avalia responded.

"Sorry isn't enough! God, I hope your mom gets out of jail soon. Just come home by midnight. If I don't see you in the morning, I'm calling the police to get you and beating your ass once we're home. And say your goodbyes to that girl!" Aunt Ellie hung up, which made Avalia relieved for a second. Once the relief was gone, she slid down the wall and put her head in her hands. She was fucked. She couldn't see Phoebe for the rest of her life, her aunt was going to kill her, and she won't be able to confess. Everything was running in her head at full speed, causing Avalia to break down right there in the station. It was too much for her to simply handle on her own. All she wanted to do was go back to her mom and be with the maid, chef, and bodyguards. She wasn't even angry at her anymore. She just wanted her mother back.

Eventually, Phoebe came out of the room, tears welling in her eyes. Avalia stood up and opened her arms as the brunette hugged her. They both rested in each other's arms for a minute, silently sobbing. They didn't even know what happened to each other. Phoebe got fired, while Avalia was banned from seeing the girl she liked. Matter a fact, loved. They didn't know each other's situations yet, and somehow, they related and understood the other's pain.
