The drive back to the firehouse was silent. Phoebe's parents were disappointed about the Ghostbusters shutting down, Phoebe was mad at her parents, and Avalia knew that this would be the last time her and Phoebe would be hanging out. Avalia was very clingy, laying her head on Phoebe's shoulder. The brunette didn't say anything about it, though. She liked that Avalia was comfortable with her. They finally pulled up to the firehouse, where a girl with braids, a man in a purple hoodie, and the man that fixed the ghost machine were standing. The five automatically got out and headed to the door. Avalia was the last one out of the car while Phoebe unlocked the door. The group walked in and automatically noticed the missing pieces that the police already confiscated.
"Oh man," Callie echoed while looking around the bare room.
"They stole our gear," Gary said.
"'Civil forfeiture,' I believe is the terminology," the man, Lars, muttered pretentiously.
"Stop it!" The purple shirt guy, Nadeem, dropped his duffel bag. Avalia looked over to what he was looking at. "Fire pole?"
"I've always wanted to go down, but someone forbade me," Avalia complained, side eyeing Phoebe. Phoebe slightly blushed.
"Well that's bullshit. This is so fire!"
"Oh, yeah, you guys really gotta try that thing," Trevor replied, looking at Nadeem and Avalia.
"Who is he?" Callie questioned.
"I'm Nadeem. I'm a potential deep well of psychokinetic energy and quite possibly possessed," Nadeem introduced.
"You know, we would be cool if you left out the possessed part," Avalia said. "But can we try the fire pole?"
Callie looked over at the two of them, both acting like children. "Yeah, knock your socks off." The two squealed and went upstairs to use it while the rest were stressed out.
"Is this the last night in the firehouse?" Phoebe quietly asked Gary. It was silent in her mind, except the squeals of excitement from Avalia and Nadeem. Gary shrugged and walked past Phoebe, heading toward her mother's room

Avalia observed Phoebe's room for one last time. She knew she had to do something before she never saw her again. So, a few minutes before, she had written a note and hidden it under Phoebe's bed. If she didn't come in a few minutes, she would have to leave without a goodbye. Thankfully, someone walked in the room and sat down next to her. Avalia felt the tears run down her face even after her entering the room.
"What's wrong?" Phoebe questioned, lifting Avalia's face up. It took Avalia a minute for her to calm down and actually have the ability to form a sentence.
"I called my aunt right before you were released from the jail. I accidentally told her about you and-" her breath hitched. "I'm banned from seeing you now."
"Why?" Avalia gave Phoebe an obvious look.
"Phoebe. I wasn't going to tell you cause I was gonna take this to my grave," Avalia said, slightly joking. "But I really like you. Since the morning after you brought me to your house, I felt something. I didn't understand what it was until now, but I really fucking like you Phoebe. I wanna stay with you forever." Phoebe smiled at Avalia.
"I really like you, too, I just didn't know when to tell you," Phoebe replied. "I guess this is the only time I'll be able to say it." Avalia sighed and checked her phone, knowing that she had to get back home soon.
"Well, I have to go," Avalia said, getting up from the bed.
"Wait!" Phoebe exclaimed, standing up after Avalia. Phoebe cupped the girl's cheek and the blond automatically knew what was about to happen. She stopped breathing for a second as the two slowly leaned in. Thoughts were rushing through Avalia's mind as she finally closed the small gap between the two teens. Avalia was kissing her. Oh my god, she thought as she slowly released.
"I'm so sorry, I should've asked-"
"No, I'm glad you didn't," Avalia responded. Her hands rested on Phoebe's waist as they leaned in again, this time the kiss being longer and more passionate. It felt like the world stopped spinning when they were together. All of the complications with the Ghostbusters, Avalia's aunt threatening her, both of their lives slowly falling apart. It all faded for a moment, as it was just the two of them.
