Deck of Cards Series: Love is Like A Deck Of Cards

Earlier in the day Amber was at their base with the others as they finished getting their questions answered from Green beetle.

Nightwing was doing most of the questions as the others stood by to observe. Amber was doing that the most as she wanted to look for any signs no matter how small, to see if Green was lying. If he was lying and a danger to the Team, Amber would take care of him before he became too big of a problem.

However during the questioning Amber could not sense any sort of body language that would make her do so. Still, Amber had this feeling in her gut not to fully trust Green and she planned to do exactly that. Amber refused to lose another family member. She had already lost enough.

Once the meeting was adjourned Amber left having errands to run. But before leaving she made sure to ruffle her two favorite junior members' heads in a goodbye.

Later on that day~

Amber met up with Connor and Nightwing at the hospital to check on Lagoon's wounds. From what Nightwing briefly told her over the phone, Tigress and Deathstroke had ambushed Lagoon and M'gann at one of Zeta tubes placed in a junkyard.

They had captured M'gann and heavily injured Lagoon.

So far trying to keep Lagoon still and in bed has proven rather difficult for the time. Amber stayed for a little bit, but seeing how Nightwing and Connor had it mostly under control. It was time Amber got a bit more assertive with finding answers, ones she knew Nightwing and Kaldur were not going to give her anytime soon.

After Amber left, Nightwing finally told Connor and Lagoon about Kaldur's deep cover mission and Artemis being alive and acting as Tigress. It surprised Nightwing to say the least when Connor chose to defend him against Lagoon instead of yelling at him and then throwing him out the window. Connor really has grown from that angry big gremlin he once was.

The two headed out to the hallway to let La'gaan get some rest. When the door clicked shut Nightwing turned to Connor. "Thanks for backing me up in there."

Connor whipped around fast, his voice rising with anger, "You don't leave a guy a lot of options. You have no idea what your secrets have done to us."

"What does that—" "M'gann believed Kaldur had killed Artemis. So when she found him on the Reach ship, she fried his brain."

Nightings eyes widened in surprise as Connor continued.

"That's gotta be why Artemis grabbed her. To try and save Kaldur's broken mind. But M'gann doesn't know how to do that. So Manta may just kill her and kill Tigress if she blows her cover trying to save her. And we'll have lost all three of them because you thought it was a bad idea to share."

Connor then turned to walk away but stopped briefly as he let out a scoff, "Oh, and good luck telling Amber about this. I'm sure she'll love to hear all about your secret undercover mission that you and Kaldur have been up to." Another scoff left him, "That's if she doesn't already know." Connor then left not as Nightwing narrowed his gaze.

"Not real. Not real. Not real." Artemis said as shards of Tula's magic shot right through her. Hearing groans of pain, Artemis turned around to see the shards hitting M'gann instead. Artemis swam to M'gann as she grabbed her and then swam away from Tula's magic attacks.

Once they were at a certain distance Artemis turned M'gann to face her.

"M'gann! Snap out of it. You know none of this is real." Artemis shook but it was no use as M'gann kept repeating, "All my fault. All my fault."
