Chapter Twenty Two

Lalisa

"Hey Kookie, could you double-check the presentation for me? I can't really saw the purpose of the whole GD Project so I'd like to reconsider launching it."

"Yeah, that's fine." I smiled as I saw him walk away leaving me with 5 of my team.

I have 6 boys on my team: J-hope, RM, Suga, Jimin, Jin, and Kookie. The 6 of them were already friends before I even met them, It was actually Kookie I first met, He's hacking through our system under the codename: kookie ( which is why I'm calling him that )

He's really good at it, I mean he gave me a really hard time blocking all his attempts. And then due to my frustration with him, I tracked down his Ip address which is extremely difficult by the way and saw that his living in a downtown apartment hacking wifi from the nearby coffee shop cause he couldn't afford to have one.

And then I found out about his life story and thought of recruiting him, he got a really nice skill y'know. I thought it would be a great addition to my team since at that time I'm in a dire need of people but yeah he completed my team in one set.

Actually, Kookie refused my offer the first time saying: If I don't hire his brothers, he won't accept it and so I gave them a try.

Giving them a month to show what their team is capable of and honestly, they surprise me beyond belief.

"Umm, Lis. Look at this one, it says that the branch of LM stocks decreased by 3% over the last 3 months with no particular reason at all."

I furrowed my eyebrow removing myself from the train of memory I put myself in. As I look at the file Jimin send to me.

It was the graph of our stocks over the past months, Okay??

How did this happen?

"Did you check the past record? Is it really just from the past months?"

"Yes, I did. My conclusion is, It has something to do with Doctor Lee, the Chairman." He sends me another group of files containing the list of the Chairman's activity.

And it's not quite good to the eye, this is appalling. 

"How brazen. I'll let you deal with this Chim but do update me if you need some help. " I answered as I exited the files and decided to check the overall growth of the company. Since LM is all around the world, it's honestly so hard to maintain the record.

I went and do some recording stuff while tracking the errors of each report they gave.

I'm glad that I'm still not 18, cause I know for a fact just how much busy I would get when I become the freakin' CEO not to mention the amount of public appearance, just the thought of it is giving me a headache already.

So my days go like that, I'm especially busy today since the project for the conference meeting is coming up. The presentation and all is under my team, I need to be in my utmost best preparing it.

"Hey Lis, It's 5:13, do you think you should eat lunch at least?" I turn my face at the owner of the voice glancing at my wristwatch.

It's 5:13 alright, "Yeah. You guys should rest too, Kookie. I'll see you all later. Let's have dinner?"

"Okay. Then we'll see you, Lis."

I nod as I watch him exited my office, We all have the same office though, I'm separated from them by a door.

I wave to them from the glass wall and turn off my pc saving all the files.

Now, what should I get? Maybe I could just tell one of my employees to fetch me a meal. I called Nayun and told her to get me a light meal.

When I decided to check my phone, my personal one. I haven't turn it on yet since I've been really busy and I guess 8 hours and so already passed.

Wait... Oh shit!

My phone greeted me with 96 messages from only one person. Jennie.

Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit.

As I fumbled on it, I read her messages. She mostly asks me what I'm doing but it's getting scary as I scroll to the most recent one.

Shit! What should I do?!

I thought of calling her but then what should I say?!...

Fuck it.

I pressed the call button and when she answered it my mouth move on its own.

"I need you."

That's my initial response; I want to see her so bad, that's for sure. I've been missing her and maybe the reason why I'm drowning myself to work is because of it. I hate that I can't see her because of work and as much as I want to go home to see her, I knew I just can't.

I'm not that irresponsible.

I wait for her response but all I received is the ending tone. That took me by surprise.

I look at my phone dumbfounded not believing that she really did that. Fuck. Did I mess up my chance?

Oh, motherfucker.

I'm no saint but I don't curse as much as Jennie does, I guess she rubs it off of me. Since I'm getting potty mouth lately, although that's not the point.

Jennie just ended the call without speaking to me. Oh, God!

She's really mad ain't she?

What to do?! What to do?!

I racked my head for all the things I could do to make it up for her and decided to free my schedule after this project is done and take her on a blockbuster date.

And maybe... I could finally ask her 'that' question.

We've been avoiding that topic for a while now. I'm afraid that she might change her mind and leave me if I opened that topic. And her not talking about it just made it harder.

But I'm on my limit. I want to get her, I want to call her mine. Shit. I've been dying to call her mine. And maybe after this, she will.

She gave me another chance for myself, encouraging me to see the beauty in every aspect of living. Increasing my confidence in the world, and my mask is slowly disappearing.

She helps me increase my confidence as Lalisa Manoban. Not that Lalisa Manoban but just Lalisa in general. She help me as me, helps me to be confident even without pretending to be.

And I thank her for that. I'm so grateful to her.

I was interrupted with my thought when Nayun knocked on my door delivering my lunch dinner and informing me of my schedule for tomorrow.

I have a meeting with the possible investor so I can't mess it up. I thank her for the food before I dismiss her. I ate my food thinking if I should call Jen but decided against it to build up the surprise.

I texted her though.

I'm sorry Jen. I'm really busy, I'll make it up to you, Okay? I'll see you soon.
