The morning light filtered gently through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. That morning I woke up with a soft smile on my face, despite the throbbing in my leg. Reaching out instinctively for Richard, my hand met only the cool, empty sheets. Opening my eyes, I realized he was no longer beside me, causing a soft sigh to escape me.

Sitting up and glancing around the room, I saw no sign of him either. Pushing aside the lingering sleepiness, I decided to check his room. Wrapping myself in the sheets before making my way over to the connecting door and knocking softly. "Richard?" I asked, my voice gently. There was no response, so I decided to have a look inside.

Cracking the door open and peeking inside revealed an empty room. It caused my eyes to fly to the clock, it was a bit past nine. They must be downstairs having breakfast already, I thought.

Heading back to my room to get ready, I stood in front of the mirror and noticed a hickey on my chest, just above the edge of the robe. My fingers brushed over the slight discoloration, a mix of embarrassment and satisfaction washing over me as I thought of his lips on my skin. A very faint one on my neck, just below my jawline, also caught my eye. Biting my lip, I searched through my makeup bag for something to cover it up.

After a few attempts, the mark on my neck was reasonably well concealed. Satisfied, I dressed quickly and headed downstairs to join the others for breakfast.

Making my way downstairs, the sounds of clinking cutlery and muffled conversations grew louder. Entering the dining area, I saw most of the band gathered around a large table, their laughter and chatter creating a lively atmosphere. My heart skipped a beat when I spotted Richard among them, his smile lighting up the room.

Deciding to grab some breakfast before joining them, I headed over to the buffet. As I filled my plate with a selection of fruits, yogurt, and whole-grain toast, I bumped into Paul, who was also gathering his breakfast.

"Morning, Anna," Paul greeted with a friendly smile. "How did you sleep?"

"Morning, Paul. I slept well, thanks," I replied, trying to keep my tone casual.

Paul gave me a knowing look as he piled some eggs and bacon onto his plate. "So, how was your evening? Anything interesting happen?"

His question was innocent enough, but my mind immediately flashed back to the intense night with Richard. I felt a flush rise to my cheeks, and I forced a smile, hoping to mask my sudden nervousness. "Oh, it was good. Just, you know, we drove around a bit and had dinner."

Paul's eyes sparkled with a knowing glint. "Just dinner, huh? You two seemed to be enjoying each other's company quite a bit."

My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel my palms starting to sweat. "Yeah, we had a nice time," I replied, my voice a little too high-pitched.
