The morning light gently seeped through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. Anna lay peacefully in Richard's embrace, her body relaxed and content. The warmth of his body against hers was comforting, and the steady rhythm of his breathing lulled her into a state of serene comfort. Richard had been awake for a while, quietly enjoying the closeness and the tranquility of the moment. He lightly traced patterns on her arm, savoring the intimacy of their connection.
A sharp knock on the door abruptly pulled Anna from her sleep. Her eyes snapped open, and she blinked in confusion as the sound shattered the peaceful bubble they were in. Richard's body stiffened, and he tightened his hold on her for a moment before quickly pushing himself up from the bed.
"Fuck," he muttered under his breath, his tone a mix of frustration and urgency. The knock had come too soon, and the sudden intrusion rattled him. He looked down at Anna, who was still trying to shake off her drowsiness.
"What's happening?" Anna mumbled, her voice still groggy as she tried to make sense of the situation.
"Just stay here," Richard whispered, leaning in to give her a quick, reassuring kiss on the forehead. "I'll take care of it."
He moved swiftly, pulling on a shirt with practiced efficiency. The lingering warmth of Anna's body was still fresh on his skin, a comforting reminder of the calm they had shared. As he approached the door, he felt a surge of concern. He had hoped for a few more quiet moments before the world outside intruded on their secluded haven.
With one last, fleeting glance at Anna, who was propped up in bed, he slipped into the entryway of the room. Opening the door with a careful, guarded expression, ready to handle whatever—or whoever—was on the other side.
But he wasn't prepared for Till, who stood there with a casual, yet imposing presence. "Morgen," Till greeted in German, his tone light but authoritative.
Anna's heart raced at the sound of Till's voice. Panic flared within her as she instinctively knew she had to hide. She slipped out of bed with quiet precision, her movements barely making a sound as she made her way toward the bathroom. Every step was careful, every sound amplified in her ears. She knew that if Till came inside, their secret would be exposed. The transparent door to the bathroom loomed as a potential disaster; if Till saw her, it would all come crashing down.
Richard, caught off guard by Till's unexpected appearance, tried to maintain a semblance of normalcy. He managed a tight smile and greeted Till, hoping to buy Anna the time she needed. "Guten Morgen," he said, his voice slightly strained as he tried to keep the situation under control.
