Street lights cast shadows along the dimly lit sidewalk as Hyunjin walked you home, your hand clasped in his, fingers entwined. You could feel the warmth of his shoulder against yours as the two of you occasionally brushed against one another while your heart thumped with every step you took.

You were the first to break the comfortable silence between you. "I'd uh, I'd love to see some of your paintings one day—I mean—if you want to show me—I completely understand if not.....art can be personal." As soon as the words had left your mouth you felt as if maybe you were overstepping..

He cut you off from your word vomit immediately ...."I'd love to show them to you Y/N" he said giving you a reassuring smile.

"Do—you want to see them tonight?" He asked timidly looking over at you. He didn't want the night to end just as much as you didn't, he would show you anything just to spend more time getting to know you.

It was only 9:00 and even though you two had class tomorrow morning you weren't about to turn down time you could be spending with Hyunjin...especially him willing to show you something so personal as his art.

"Sure...if you'll have me" you said with a teasing laugh.

He stopped abruptly, surprising you by turning to face you..one hand behind your head, the other at the small of your back leaning you backwards to kiss you deeply..his soft lips caressing your own. It was passionate...

"Of course I'll have you...as long as you'll let me." He said pulling away from the kiss staring at you through heavy lids.

Your stomach was doing flips as he pressed another kiss to your mouth. What did you do to deserve meeting someone like him.

You hated even the thought of comparison but Hyunjin was everything your ex wasn't. When he was with you his attention was on no one but you.

It didn't take long for him to notice the furrow in your eyebrows. You were deep in thought about the life you ran away from...about the people you ran away from.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked as you had started your walk again now towards his house.

You sighed...not wanting to admit what you were really thinking about but you wanted to be open and honest with him. You never wanted to hide your feelings from someone again out of fear of what they'd think of you...if he couldn't handle it..then so be it.

"Honestly—"you trailed off.

"I was just thinking about how much I appreciate you...my ex—even on some of our first dates, would answer texts from other girls he insisted were just friends...or would be overly friendly with a waitress...I feel so fucking stupid for staying with him even after the early signs." You blinked back tears.

"Everyone around me just told me I was being overly jealous and I would run him off if I kept acting like that...and it was only my own fault he cheated...I was so fucking stupid to believe it...I let him walk all over me for years...I was literally no better than a door mat."

He stopped, wrapping his arms around you and hugging you tightly. "You weren't stupid y/n...he was the stupid one for taking advantage of such a caring and trusting person. You weren't stupid for wanting love."

"Then I was just pathetic...which is even worse."

"Not pathetic either...I told you, you're a romantic...and that's nothing to be ashamed of...your one of the few people that love so deeply they're willing to negate their own feelings for others."

You blinked away the tears from your eyes.

Hyunjin hated seeing you cry...It physically hurt him to know you were hurting.

"Come on, we're here" he pulled you by the hand down a quiet side street lined with cherry blossoms that had just begun to bloom. It was an extremely nice street..all houses, no apartments.

His house suited him perfectly. It was a beautiful contemporary build full of windows. You imagined how amazing it would be in the morning as the sunlight started to peak in. It was the house of an artist if you'd ever seen one.

He unlocked the large wooden door and shut the both of you inside. After removing your shoes and coat he led you down the hall to a large room.

There had to be hundreds of canvases everywhere...some stacked against the wall, a few still on easels. Paints of every color and brushes laid out on every surface imaginable..

"Sorry it's a bit of a mess...it's the only room I can never seen to keep clean" he laughed rubbing the back of his neck...something you noticed he did when nervous.

You walked around slowly taking in each painting...you lingered on a few studying them before moving on to the next.

He watched you quietly fidgeting from one foot to the other nervously not wanting to interrupt you. He had never shown anyone all of his work before aside from a select few he chose to show close friends or colleagues.

"They're beautiful" you finally spoke looking back at him.

He looked down at the floor smiling, "you really think so?".

"Oh my God, yes...they are absolutely stunning Hyunjin...all of them."

"Thank you...I've never shown anyone this room before...most people don't take the time to slow down and appreciate simple things so I never bothered even trying."

Hearing him say that made you feel special. He trusted you enough to show you his soul on canvas because that's exactly what these were...you could tell what type of mood he was in when painting each one..you could get to know him by just looking at what he paints...

"Well, like I said earlier, I appreciate you Hyunjin..and I feel honored by you showing me this."

You walked over to where he stood and wrapped your arms around his neck standing on your tiptoes to kiss him.

You kissed him slowly. Trying to say all the things you couldn't find the words for.

He rested his forehead against your own looking in your eyes.

"Be mine" he said in question. "Please"

"Okay" you whispered back. "I'm yours Hyunjin..."
