As you left the Daelim Museum, the weight of your emotions felt like a heavy cloak draped around your shoulders. You moved swiftly through the high-ceilinged lobby, your steps echoing slightly against the sleek, modern tiles. The cool interior of the museum contrasted sharply with the warmth outside, but you barely noticed as you pushed through the large glass doors, stepping out into the bustling streets of Seoul.

The city was a blur around you; the sounds of traffic, the chatter of pedestrians, and the occasional honk of cars merged into a cacophony that mirrored the turmoil inside you. You were frustrated—frustrated with yourself, frustrated with the lingering shadows of a past relationship that still had the power to affect you so deeply. Your ex had changed you, instilled doubts and insecurities that made you recoil from new connections out of fear they might too unravel into hurt.

Avoiding Hyunjin for the remainder of the class had been a defensive move. You didn't want to confront the possibility of seeing Kara close to him again, didn't want to face your own reactions—embarrassment, jealousy, fear. You were upset, not just with the situation, but with yourself for letting these feelings dictate your actions.

As you merged with the flow of pedestrians, your pace quick, you missed the concerned glance Hyunjin cast in your direction from the museum entrance. He had caught just a glimpse of your retreat—a flash of your expression that was enough to tell him something was wrong. It was the same look of hurt he'd seen the first time he'd really looked at you, a look that had drawn him toward you initially, a desire to understand and perhaps to ease that pain.

Hyunjin stood for a moment at the top of the museum steps, the bustling city spreading out before him. He felt a tug in his chest, a mix of concern and helplessness, as he watched you disappear into the crowd. He wished there were something he could do, something he could say that would bridge the gap between you, that would erase the hurt he had inadvertently witnessed.

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his phone, his fingers wrapping around the cool metal. He hesitated, the device heavy in his hand, as he contemplated texting you. He wanted to talk, to hear your voice, to understand what had caused the distance that had suddenly sprung up between you. He thumbed open the messaging app...

Hyunjin paused, his thumb hovering over the keyboard. What could he say? What words could bridge the distance, could soothe the raw edges of whatever pain you were experiencing? After a moment of thought, he began to type, slowly and deliberately:

He reread the message a few times, his forehead creased with concern, before finally pressing 'send'. As he slid the phone back into his pocket, he looked once more in the direction you had gone, hoping that maybe, just maybe, you would feel his concern through his words and reach back out.

Your phone buzzed in the back pocket of your jeans.

Your heart started beating rapidly when you saw the notification. You had been pushing your way through the busy street towards home...towards your park where you could sit and think without distractions.

~Hey, I didn't get a chance to ask today but the new gallery in Gangnam is opening tonight and I was wondering if you would like to go?"~

Ugh...of course you wanted to go. You wanted to go anywhere Hyunjin would be but you already told Felix you would come to his party. Plus you were still letting your thoughts get to you. It wouldn't be fair to Hyunjin to have to deal with you like that.

A party is just what you needed anyway...you wanted to let loose and forget for awhile...something you rarely ever did.

~"I'm sorry, I already have plans tonight...rain check though?"~
