October 1977
The weekend came and went, and Ziggy and Salior did have their girls' day, and Tommy did join them. Now Salior was at school in the bathroom. She was about to step onto the toilet to open the vent, but she stopped once she heard the door open and close and people talking.
"Okay, so you're telling me you don't believe in Sarah Fier?" Arnie asked, causing Salior to scrunch up her eyebrows.
"I mean, I don't know." Tommy said with a shrug.
"She reaches beyond the grave to make good men her wicked slave." Arnie started, and at that time, Salior slung the stall door open, causing the guys to jump.
"She'll take your blood. She'll take your head. She'll follow you until you're dead." Salior spoke in a spooky voice, shaking Tommy's head, causing the guys to laugh.
"Jeez! Salior, what are you doing in here? This is the guys bathroom?" Gary asked, and she looked over at him with a smile, but she didn't say anything as she made her way back to the stall she was in.
She hopped up on the toilet and popped open, the vent, and grabbed a box out of it and jumped back down.
"Candy Store." She replied, putting the box down.
"Wait, you're sealing that stuff?" Gary asked, then turned to Tommy, who only shrugged and got down next to her.
"I mean, I have to pay the bills somehow." She replied, looking through the box.
"I thought you had a job at the supermarket?" He asked, and she just shrugged.
"I do, but I need every penny I can get, and besides, it's not like im the one who sells it." She said, pulling up some Molly, then looked at Arine.
Sailor is the one who sorts and weighs everything out and puts the price on things. Arine is the who sells and gets what they need.
"Yeah, chill, bro." Arine said as Salior put two pills in a small bag and handed it to him.
"This goes to Albert Johnson." She said, causing him to nod and walk out.
"Wait, you're okay with this?" Gary asked Tommy, who was putting the box back up.
"I mean, she's not the one selling it." He said. He didn't care what Sailor did as long as she was safe and she didn't get caught. He understood why she did. She needed the money.
"Okay, okay." Gary said with his hands up.
"Okay, I got to get to class." Sailor said, and Tommy nodded.
"I'll walk you, come on." He said and held her hand, and the couple walked out.
As they were walking, she looked up at him.
"So you really don't believe?" She asked, looking up at him. Tommy let out a small laugh as he looked down at her.
"Do you?" He asked, and the girl just shook her head.
"No, but it would explain why everything goes downhill in this town." She replied with a small shrug.
"Yeah, I guess everyone has their own ways of dealing with Shadyside." He mumbled, causing her to nod.
"Yeah." She said as they stopped in front of her classroom. She just stood there looking at the door, not wanting to go in.
"You want to get out of here?" Tommy asked, and Salior looked over at him.
"What?" She asked
"Let's skip, let's go have some fun." He said with a smile, grabbing both of her hands.
Sailor looked around, seeing how the halls were basically empty. Then she looked back up at Tommy.
"Sure, why not?" She asked, and they didn't waste another second and ran down the hall.
When they got to the parking lot, they got to Tommy's truck, and he opened the door for her, and she hopped in.
________
The couple were driving down the road, and Salior couldn't help but admire her boyfriend as he drove. Tommy looked over at her, seeing her smiling at him.
"What?" He laughed, causing her to shrug.
"Nothing, I just love you." She replied with a fond smile on her face, and he reached over and grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it.
"I love you too." He said. "But I think you're going to love me even more once you find out what I have in mind." He added.
"Oh, and what's that?" She asked.
"You'll see." He replied, and she let out a groan but also a laugh.
"You always do this, just tell me." She begged, but he just shook his head.
"Nope. Sorry, but you'll just have to wait and see." He said, and she playfully rolled her eyes.
"Okay, whatever." She said, keeping the smile on her face as she leaned back.
Sailor looked out the window to see how all the leaves on the trees were different colors, something she loved about fall were the colors that surrounded them.
When she looked over at Tommy, she couldn't help but wonder what was going through his mind she kept thinking that maybe she could get it out of him.
"You're not going to get it out of me." Tommy said, looking over at her.
"How did you know I was thinking I could?" She asked, and he gave her a really look.
"We've known each other since we were like five." He pointed out.
"You know I can always surprise you, I could have been thinking about how the sun reflects off your hair." She stated, and Tommy just gave her a look, knowing that wasn't true.
"Yeah, okay." He said and pulled into the Dairy Queen, and Salior smiled wide.
"Dairy Queen?" She asked with excitement in her tone. She loved the place.
He looked over at her and smiled. He pulled up to the drive-through and started to order. He knew exactly what she wanted. That's something Salior loved about him.
Once they got their food, she noticed how Tommy didn't pull into a parking space but kept driving. She looked out the window and watched as the trees passed by.
She reached into one of the bags and pulled out a fry.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Tommy asked, looking over at her.
"What? I'm hungry." She replied, causing him to laugh a little.
"We're almost there. Trust me, you're going to love it." He said.
"Okay, fine." She said, but she ate the fry anyway.
________
After a few more minutes, they were finally there. Saliors eyes winden seeing how they were basically on a cliff, but that didn't really catch her attention. What caught her attention was the view. She could see hundreds of trees with their colorful leaves.
"Oh my god." Salior said with a small laugh walking closer to the edge, and Tommy wrapped his arms around her waist to keep her steady.
"Do you like it?" He asked, and she turned her head to look at him.
"Like it? I love it. Thank you." She gushed, kissing his cheek, then turned back to look at the view.
"I knew you would." He whispered, kissing the back of her head, causing her to lean into him more. She closed her eyes, soaking in the moment. She never wanted to forget it. Tommy started to move back, taking her with him. "You hungry?" Salior looked back at him and nodded.
"Oh yeah." She said, and they walked back over to his truck to get their food.
The couple sat on the tailgate to eat their food, as they talked about anything and everything, throwing in some jokes here and there with stolen kisses in between.
