[late but here I am 🩷 enjoy!]

Dominique had an unexpected errand to run the next day and couldn't pick Summer up. Summer made up her mind to join the Robinson family for the holidays, and she started to love the idea of being surrounded by millionaires and doing fun activities. When Dominique texted her and told her she wouldn't be coming, she was crushed until the woman suggested a later time.

"How about around 1 pm?" Dominique questioned her. "I can take you to Winston for your exams, and while you're doing that, I can pick up a few things."

"Cool." Summer smiled, feeling delighted once again. She didn't want to stay around her mom. Christie would only ruin her vacation.

"Have your bags packed."

As soon as Summer ended the call, she began to gather her things. Her bags were packed, so there was no need to panic about everything being out of order. Christie made sure Summer grabbed everything in her dorm. Before closing the door, she realized all of her belongings were gone. Nothing of hers was left inside the room.

Summer didn't mind. She planned to leave Fitzgerald and move into a different dormitory with her best friend, Trinity. They wouldn't have to pay rent, but the room would cost more. They didn't seem to mind since Fitzgerald was not the ideal for them. Also, Summer's tuition was paid in full due to her father's military benefits.

Around the afternoon, Summer found herself freshening up. She took a shower and pulled half her mini twists in an updo while the rest hung against her shoulders. She loved this protective style and planned to keep them in for her entire winter vacation.

She didn't get fancy with her clothes. A long-sleeve top covered her upper body. She wore grey sweatpants for comfort and paired them with her socks and UGG slippers. Summer didn't want to wear any sneakers. She wore diamond studs in her ears and made sure to wear the necklace and ring Grant gifted her.

In the midst of pushing her bags toward the door, Summer's phone began to ring. She glanced at the bed and huffed before snatching it from the charger. Trinity was Facetiming her, so she wasted no time answering it.

Trinity eyed her before wrinkling her nose. Summer blinked a few times before asking, "What?"

"Why are you looking cute?"

"I'm not looking cute." Summer ran her hand across her chest as she continued to hold her phone at a specific angle. Trinity was able to see most of her upper area.

"Yes, you are. I see you got the fresh twists in your head. Alright, natural hair." Trinity nodded and focused on the jewelry hanging around Summer's neck. "And I see you're still wearing that necklace, too."

Summer grabbed her necklace and pushed out, "It was a gift."

"A gift that signifies love." Trinity pushed out with a lot of emphasis. She pursed her lips as she continued to examine her friend.

"Trin..." Summer's eyes flew to the ceiling. "I really don't have time to bicker over this. I have a lot going on."

"Hey, I'm not trying to beat you down." Trinity shrugged. "I just want you to be careful." Her eyes narrowed in suspense before she asked, "What's going on with you, though?"

Summer shook her head before sighing.

"Come onnnn." Trinity tried coaxing her. "Tell me. I already know your mom forced you back home."

"That's the problem."

Trinity didn't say anything. She was too busy shaking her head and feeling sorry for her friend. In her opinion, Summer had no backbone when it came to Christie. She didn't understand why she couldn't stand up to her. Summer was eighteen and didn't have to put up with her mom.
