[hi. 🩷]

The room was silent because of Grant's sudden outburst. He eyed her with animosity after spewing out harsh words to Annika.

"I didn't ask you to be here. As a matter of fact, we're not even together. We broke up weeks ago. I don't know why you're here when I don't want you in my fucking space."

Grant's words were cold and sharp—like a switchblade. Annika felt he'd managed to cut her up into tiny pieces in front of their family. She sat there in silence while trying to control her breathing. Annika could feel a ball of sorrow in her throat as she tried to keep her tears from falling.

"You...don't mean that." Annika voiced with sadness in her tone. She shook her head and immediately wiped away the tear cascading down her cheek.

"I know what I'm saying." Grant replied sternly. "You already know what it is, so I don't know why you're carrying on like that."

Micaela narrowed her eyes at the man before opening her mouth to speak.

"My sister has taken a lot out of you and---"

"Why are you even here?" Grant interjected while wearing a grimace on his face. "You know I don't like you."

"Alright, Granite." Diane raised her voice. "That's enough. The conversation is over with."

Nancy looked over at Diane and said, "Not quite." She placed her attention on her daughter and Grant before asking, "When did you two decide to break up? Why are you breaking up?"

"Because he's a cheater." Micaela blurted before folding her arms. John and Nancy raised their eyebrows in puzzlement. Even Diane was a little flustered, but Dominick remained calm. He knew his son was a cheater.

"Yeah." Micaela jeered at Grant. "You've been cheating on my sister."

In Grant's opinion, he hadn't cheated on Annika since their freshman year of college. Of course, he spent a lot of time getting acquainted with Summer, but he didn't see that as cheating.

"Yeah." Micaela continued while nodding her head. "Now, you're looking stupid. What's crazy is that he has his side bitch at the table."

Annika told Micaela everything. She confided in her sister because Micaela didn't run her mouth. However, today was different. Annika's eyes widened in realization when she processed what her sister said.

"Who?" A few people asked in unison as they looked around.

Summer could feel her face growing warm. She felt as if she could melt right in her chair. Her eyes went toward her plate of food as she silently sat there.

"Micaela. It's alright." Annika tried hushing her sister.

"No, it's wrong." Micaela gave her sister a scowl. "I'm tired of him playing with you." Her eyes shot over at Grant with fierce.  "Go ahead, Grant, and tell everyone why you're really bringing Summer around."

Summer was spooked out. She had no idea who Micaela was, but for some reason—Micaela knew her. She wanted to leave the table and run into the guestroom but decided to stay in her seat.

"Excuse me?" She questioned Micaela while tilting her head. Her eyes narrowed in bewilderment.

"You heard what I said." Micaela countered. "You're wrong—you knew Annika was in a relationship with Grant, and you ruined it."

Summer rolled her eyes before spewing, "Girl. I didn't ruin anything, and I'm not messing around with Grant."

"You're lying!" Micaela's voice rose in irritation. "Then why are you here?"
