It's without a doubt common for stories to tell tales of odd pairs, people who were never meant to connect yet somehow found a way to do so nonetheless.
Among them is the common trope of the peasant and the noble. Two people from wholly different worlds somehow finding a connection and such a thing somehow found it's way to the enigmatic elite school...
The school day had just ended, at the time no incidents were apparent for anyone to worry about and the peacefulness of the day surely calmed many individuals
In the park, a young woman stood before the fountain in the middle of the park, she was gazing silently with her blue eyes at the water before her, her long black hair fluttering softly with the wind.
She was gazing down at the water silently at first but slowly her face began to frown as she put her hand lightly on her face, she was analyzing every piece of it with distaste.
Her face was something she grew to dislike, mainly due to the fact it was an almost perfect copy of her mother's, they both shared a similar somber expression and both were indeed odd in comparison to their peers.
She slowly let out a sigh as she put her hand down and spoke softly to her self.
"Why do i get to live while they're dead?...It's unfair."
In her mind the image of her mother and another woman who she was largely close with came, to her those two were the only figures she can turn to for a way to lead her life, they were the best parents she could've asked to even if one came at the cost of the other.
She was about to turn around and leave the fountain but the moment she put her foot to the side an unexpected event happened.
*BOOM*
Behind her a dark blue object came crashing into the water, the water immediately blew over at her and covered her body entirely as the girl's eyes widened.
"Huh?!" she questioned in shock as another voice came after her.
"Dude what the hell!! When i said throw it to me i didn't mean it like that?!!"
She looked behind her and saw two students who were quite far from one another, one had orange hair and a fedora while the other had pink hair and a scarred face.
They bickered with one another for a bit before parting as the pink haired student rushed to the girl and stopped as he saw the state of her clothes.
"Hello again uhh miss, sorry about what happened!" he said as he lowered his head down and the girl stayed silent and in shock.
He looked up to her and saw her confusion which caused him to sigh as he walked up to the fountain and pulled from it what looked to be his bag.
"Jeez...Now all my notebooks are destroyed, Takayanagi-sensei will chew my ear off for it..." he said as he put his bag down before turning to the girl who was still looking at him.
"You're Lelouch's sister right? Damn it i fucked up big time..." he said as he facepalmed in worry to which the girl slowly stretched her arm forward and touched his scar.
The pink haired student's eyes were widened before her leaned back abruptly causing the girl to flinch.
"S-Sorry i was just...curious" she said to which he shook his head.
"Nah you're good, Anywho...Whatchu doin' here?" he asked.
The girl remained silent as she looked him in the eye directly, a part of her felt weirded out by them, not because they were creepy or disgusting but because they were painfully genuine and showed nothing else but honesty.
"I was just thinking..."she replied causing him to smile as he looked back at the fountain.
"Well i guess that's where you and Lelouch collide, the dude likes visiting this place alot too and do his uhh 'thinking' sessions away from me and Hiyori" he said to which the girl nodded as she put her hand to her chest and gulped slightly before speaking up.
"I-I am Esther, Esther du Britannia. I think this is our first time talking directly with one another" she said to which he nodded as he smiled brightly.
"The name's Itadori, Itadori Yuji! Me and Lelouch are best buds by the way" he said as he winked to which Esther smiled lightly and nodded.
Itadori then took off her jacket and made a quick step behind her before putting it over her shoulder as he gave her a thumbs up.
"Hiyori always said if someone's cold a jacket will fix em up right away!" he said with a childish honesty to which the girl nodded as she looked down at his bag.
"I think it'll take a while for this to dry up..." she said to which Itadori nodded as he picked it up.
"I'll go hang it up in my balcony, let's head back to the dorms" he said to which she shook her head.
"No i'll be fine, you go ahead"
Itadori raised his brow in confusion before nodding as he turned around and was about to walk away before Esther grabbed his shirt from behind stopping him.
Itadori turned around and Esther had her phone out as she looked away.
"C-Can we share contacts?...I know it's weird but i-"
Itadori didn't let her finished her words as he immediately pulled out his phone and shared his contact with her smiled.
"And now we're friends! Don't tell Lelouch though...He always gets a bit scary when it comes to his family and his girlfriend, he's kind of like President Snow from the hunger games" he said causing Esther's eyes to widen in shock before she put her hand on her mouth.
"Pfft ahahahah!" she laughed through her hand causing Itadori's eyes to widen in surprise.
"Hey don't laugh at me like that!" he said in embarrassment to which she shook her head with teary eyes and a smile as she sighed.
"I am sorry, i just didn't expect Lelouch-niisama to have such curious friends" she said in fluent Japanese that didn't come from the earpiece in Itadori's ear.
"YOOOOOOO YOU CAN SPEAK JAPANESE?!!" he asked to which she nodded.
"I learned it with my older brother when we were young, i am glad it impressed you"
"Dude that's sick as heck! I wish i knew second languages like that"
Esther's smile remained as Itadori then bowed lightly after looking at the time in his phone.
"I gotta go now, let's talk later Lelouch's sister!" he declared as he rushed away from her in an instant leaving Esther somewhat perplexed and warmed.
In her mind many thoughts ran through, some were of how surprising it was to see someone this honest, some were of her step-brother and how he came to meet such a person and some were of confusion at her sudden open heart.
She believed it may have been the result of her finally meeting someone who didn't hide his heart, he wore it on a sleeve proudly and didn't shy away from others despite their differences, something which she had grown to never see in the twisted and cold aristocracy of Britannia...
