Banishment

I grabbed a pole and stood next to Alby while Minho placed Ben in front of the maze doors.

My eyebrows furrowed and I was hesitant to lift up my pole as I looked at Ben begging, I glanced up at Alby questioning if we should really do this.

No response, Alby let out a sigh and lifted up his pole announcing for everyone to do the same as the doors were closing.

The cold air blew in through the maze and Ben looked back staring wide eyes at the doors then back at us making a pleading expression with his hands.

I held my breath and looked at the end of the pole not daring to look up at Ben to see his pitch black eyes.

We started moving forward until Ben had no choice but to run in or get crushed by walls, once Ben ran in I placed the pole back were it belonged and let out a sigh thinking of ways I could've prevented this but there wasn't.

I was going to skip dinner and walk over to my hut when I was interrupted by someone on my way, it was Thomas.

"Iris right?" I kept on walking not wanting to talk right now but gave up as Thomas kept following, I sat down on a stump staring off into the distance not knowing how to feel.

"Do you remember?" My eyes widened and my breathing was being held again as Thomas asked this question, I looked up at him with the same widened eyes while his expression turned into hope, "you do remember!" I quickly stood up as Thomas did, I shushed him and grabbed him by the ear taking him to my hut "no one else here remembers Thomas, They may not trust us if they know we do." I closed my door as I threw Thomas into my room.

"Why do we only remember?" Thomas asked as he sat down on the end of my bed, I leaned against my desk, furrowing my brows in confusion.

"Who do you remember?" I asked before thinking of bringing up Teresa just in case.

"I just remember hearing your voice just shouting at me to run or something then it faded into a different voice but I didn't recognise it"

I nodded in understanding, so Thomas may have heard Teresa but he doesn't know who she is.

"Wait why was I telling you to run?" I asked while trying to put together everything. "It was when I saw Ben" I tapped my foot while thinking, I warned him? But I didn't even know what was happening, I was interrupted by Chuck knocking on my door and opening it.

"You coming for dinner?" Chuck looked at Thomas the at me, I was worried he would think something else but he's too young to understand thank goodness.

I nodded and walked out with Chuck while Thomas followed behind, we sat down with Newt and Minho who looked just as depressed about Ben.

Thomas sat next to Newt and hesitated to ask something but did anyways

"What actually happened to Ben?" I looked up, can this kid not read the room?!

Nobody answered and Chuck gestured for Thomas to come with him to bed.

Me, Minho and Newt ate in silence which is what felt best in a situation like this.

I quickly finished my meal and walked back over to my hut, I kicked off my shoes and changed into pyjamas, and collapsed onto my bed begging for no more memories as I closed my eyes.
