Chapter 5

Instead of going home I decided to double back to the interrogation room to get some more information on this Damien guy. When I got there , the officer incharge of taking Skylar to the safe house was busy typing the remainder of Skylar's paperwork and documentation into the system. Impeccable timing. "Miss Adams I would like to ask you a few more questions" I said" Yes but about what because I had already answered your question?"she asked "It's about your ex boyfriends dealings ".  "Fine "she answered blatantly . "Did he ever mention something about the Mafia or a man name Pedro Swarez?"  I asked handing her two pictures, one of Pedro and one with the Mafias logo .

"I don't know anything but I do remember seeing this man at our house , he came by a couple of months ago and he and Damien had a meeting of some kind . On that day Damien had specifically told me not to leave our bedroom because this was a very important meeting and he didn't want any distractions , the only reason I saw him was peaking and I blame that on my curiosity". " I see , do you perhaps know what the conversation was about?" I asked. "Yes I do actually, they were talking about a new weapon that would take the world by storm  that's what got me suspicious of Damien and that conversation ultimately led me to uncover the truth about him" she replied . Interesting but what could this new weapon be and what can it do ? " Did you perhaps hear what this weapon was or what it was made of ?". "No but that man in the picture said something very cryptic ". "And what was that ?" I asked " He said:  Who knee that mother Nature's creation is deadlier then man's, that her agents would be the key to the birth of world domination "  Damn this asshole with his fucked up riddles. I wasted no more time in the station. I have to get to the bottom of this I thought as I rushed out the front door of the station. I need to get to the morgue.

As I pulled up to the morgue, I took a deep breath before getting out of the car , the breeze sending a chilly embrace to my body. When I got to the office I asked for doctor Bennett the pathologist who was examining Damien's body. " What can I do for you detective?" he asked . " Well I need to solve this case and maybe even find some puzzle pieces to an even bigger case " I said. "Unfortunately I'm no detective but but I can try my best to provide clarity on the medical aspects of your case" he said. Well that's all I need , let's see if this case can lead me closer to Pedro. "Well let's get started shall we ? "I asked the doctor . "Right this way detective " he pointed, directing me upstairs to a door that led to his office I assessed as I saw his initials on the door ." Well doc I would like to record all our interactions as this is a case after all "  I said . "No problem detective." he replied as he took out what I presume was a medical report from the cabinet. " Thank you" I said as I took out my phone and went to the recorder app and pressed record.

"Well let's begin, please recite the report you gave me when I initially came here " I said"Well detective as I had stated in the report; when the body of the victim named Damien Sanders first arrived we initially thought it was a case of a simple revenge kill as there was an evident amount of stab wounds which amounted to 35 in total but upon further analysis I discovered an abnormally large amount of venom in his body , more precisely it was 15000cc's of bee venom which is equivalent to 5000 bee stings. This raised great concern as the legal limit of testing is 500cc's. This couldn't have been inflicted by bees because he had no bee stings on his body. This led me to the conclusion that this was a methodical murder in which the victim was poisoned with the venom and then stabbed multiple times to try and cover it up by making it look like a revenge kill. They would have pulled it off but unfortunately for them , the victim had wanted to donate his organs when he passed so I had I had to do a thorough analysis on his organs which also included testing his blood work and that was when I realised that his blood was contaminated by bee venom and his entire nervous system was flooded by the venom " he explained"How long do you think it takes for a victim to feel the effects of the venom?" I asked " Normally a bee sting would take about 30 to 45 seconds before a victims body feels the effects of the venom and a further 10 seconds before the nervous system reacts in an attempt to fight off the foreign body but in this case I could only assume that the effects are felt instantly which causes the nervous system to go into shock and theoretically trigger an 8 to 10 second delayed reaction which is enough time for the venom to completely destroys the victim's nervous primarily targeting the central nervous system which is the spinal cord and the brain" the doctor explained "So how would venom of this magnitude appear inside the victim's body?" I asked "As I had said before couldn't have been a bee sting as he had no wounds that and there was nothing to show that it could have been injected do I have 3 theories as to how it could have infiltrated his body and furthermore his blood stream. The first theory is that it could have entered his body via food poisoning or someone could have spiked his drink with the venom. The second theory is that since it was not injected into his system, it could have been capsualised and ingested in pill form." he explained. Interesting.

" I'm sorry doctor but I believe you said you had 3 theories as to how it could have entered his body but you only provided me with 2" I said "Well detective, the third third theory is highly unlikely and in the medical field such an assumption or theory would probably get me labelled as a 'mad man' per say so you have to understand my reservation in disclosing if it. It's almost impossible to do" he explained. "Listen doctor I need to solve this case and to do that I need to look at it from all angles so no matter how absurd your theory it may be, I have to consider it, so please tell me about it", i said . "Well if you put it that way detective; my third theory is that the killer could have found a way to change the state of the venom to that of a gas without diluting it's concentration therefore potentially creating an airborne weapon to which the victim inhaled . If that is so , then this could potentially become a global crisis and the creator would be charged with the highest form of terrorism " he explained , his brow furrowing which I'm assuming Is due to frustration . This case has just got a whole lot more complicated. If this is truly connected to Pedro and the Mafia then the whole of the United states is in danger. Fuck ! This is so frustrating. I have to get to the bottom of this before anymore innocent people get killed. This might even finally get me one step closer to finally finding the devil responsible for her death .

" Doc which labs might use bee venom or develop anything with bee venom ?" I asked , trying to get closer to the root of this case. "There are not many as this is a very unusual type of experimentation. In fact it's so rare , there are only 3 biotech labs that conduct experiments of the use of bee venom. Those labs are L.T.G ,Lexuco , and Evolution " he said.
