Once Zoya and Shan arrived back at the house, Shan made up a quick excuse to her parents, claiming she had eaten too much junk food last night and wasn't feeling well. She skipped breakfast with the family and headed straight to her room to continue resting.
Zoya returns to bed, hoping to catch a few more hours of sleep. However, the memories of the previous night keep replaying in her mind. She can't help but think about what might have happened if Monet hadn't arrived. Shan's words about Monet echo in her thoughts, adding to her unease.
Unable to sleep, she finally decided to look up home remedies for hangovers and bad drug trips. She scrolled through various suggestions until finding a list of soothing remedies. Determined to help Shan feel better, she quietly slipped out of bed and went downstairs to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, Zoya gathered a few items she thought might help Shan then balance the tray carefully in her hands as she goes back upstairs. Gently knocking on the door, Zoya listened but heard no response. Slowly pushing the door open, she peeked inside to find Shan curled under the covers, clearly feeling miserable.
"Go away, please..." Shan's voice came out in a groan from under the blankets.
"It's me," Zoya whispered softly, stepping into the room.
"Oh." Shan lifted the blanket from her face, revealing that she had sunglasses to shield her eyes from the sunlight filtering through the curtains.
Zoya approached the bedside and carefully placed the tray on the nightstand. "Shan, try drinking plenty of water to flush out toxins," she advised gently. "I also got you some ginger tea to settle your stomach and plain toast if you're hungry."
Shan nodded weakly, her discomfort evident even through the sunglasses. She reached for the glass of water, took a small sip, and then turned to the ginger tea with gratitude.
"Thanks, Z," Shan murmured, her voice hoarse.
Zoya nodded looking at Shan with concern and curiosity. "Do you remember anything from last night?" she asked gently.
Shan continued sipping her water, shaking her head in response to Zoya's question. She then settled back under the covers, holding onto the warm mug of ginger tea for comfort. Zoya stayed longer, observing Shan to ensure she was comfortable. Satisfied that Shan was settled, Zoya quietly exited the room, leaving her friend to rest and recover undisturbed.
After having some breakfast and a relaxing morning, Zoya found herself with an unplanned day ahead, free from any commitments with Monet. She decided to seize the opportunity to explore the town. She prepared herself by getting ready and packing a bag for the day ahead.
Shan entered her room as she finished organizing her things, still looking visibly exhausted.
"You should be resting," Zoya remarked softly, concerned for her friend's well-being.
