After disembarking from the plane and settling into a car that roamed through Oak Bluffs, a charming town in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, Zoya eagerly rolled down the window to take in the stunning vistas. As the fresh ocean breeze filled the car, she inhaled deeply, savoring the crisp, salty air. "Do you smell that fresh air? That's something we've been missing in New York," Zoya remarked, her voice filled with a newfound sense of tranquility.

"Yeah, can you please close that window? The last thing I need is that fresh air messing up my hair. Trust me, by day five, you'll be longing for the trash smell of New York," Shan, Zoya's best friend, replied with a hint of exasperation, trying to smooth down her edges.

With the school year finally behind them and the infamous Gossip Girl saga concluded, Zoya had been looking forward to a much-needed break. She had already planned an exciting trip to Europe with her sister Julien, Julien's boyfriend Obie, and their friends Audrey and Aki. But before jetting to Europe, Zoya wanted to spend quality time with Shan, who invited her to Martha's Vineyard-a place Shan's family visited yearly. A summer destination for the Black elite. After getting the green light from her father, Zoya joined Shan, thrilled by the prospect of exploring a place she had only read about, with its rich history and charming landscapes.

"I can't believe we're here. There's so much to do!" Zoya exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

"Please tell me you don't have..." Shan began, but then she noticed Zoya pulling out her iPad. "Never mind, I guess you do have one," rolling her eyes as she glanced at the list Zoya had meticulously prepared.

"Why do you have 'check out Nancy's restaurant' on your list?" Shan asked, puzzled, as it wasn't a major attraction in the small town.

"Sasha Obama worked there...those are goals," Zoya explained.

"Goals? What? Working at a restaurant?" Shan asked, still confused.

"No, being Sasha Obama," Zoya clarified. "Just don't look at my list!" she added, quickly hiding it from Shan.

The driver pulls up to a magnificent mansion near the water in Martha's Vineyard. As the car stops in front of the grand house, Zoya steps out and is immediately mesmerized by its sheer size and beauty. The mansion, an elegant blend of classic and modern architecture, boasts expansive verandas, large bay windows, and meticulously manicured gardens. Its white facade gleams in the sunlight, contrasting beautifully with the lush green lawns and the sparkling blue water in the distance.

"This is where your family stays? Like your entire family or just your parents and siblings?" Zoya asks, astonished by the grandeur.

Shan shrugs nonchalantly. "Just my parents, siblings, and now us. My grandparents have another house a few blocks away. Everyone else is here, and we need to get ready for the gala tonight," she says, walking towards the entrance. The staff greets her warmly and immediately attends to their luggage, carrying it inside.
