Hey there... So we all know what's coming up... It's been announced today (At the moment I started writing this oneshot, 8/6/2024) that Minato Aqua from Hololive's 2nd generation will graduate on the 28th, and so I temporarily put my Sora and Roboco fanfic on hold while I write this story on overdrive. Typing out anything that my brains comes up with, it's really sad to watch her 6 year run come to an end I know, but now here it is... And because we're the Hololive community we'll keep supporting her to the very end, and so I'll write this, the best support I can muster. Let's keep the onion maid smiling until the end!

Goodbyes don't last forever...

So here it is... You didn't think this day would come but here you are, the date is August 28th, 2024. Six years ago now you accidentally met what would become part of Hololive's 2nd generation, you still remember it like it was yesterday. The moment when you accidentally bumped into a girl with a distinct hair color and style that in all honesty, reminds you a lot about an onion. Her timid expression when she apologized to you, her voice barely being as loud as a whisper at the time and she avoided eye-contact with you at all costs. She was a bit of an oddity to you, that much was clear at the time. Little did you know though that that small exchange would kick off 6 years of smiles and memories that you'd cherish for the rest of your life, alongside her of course.
You were sitting down at your PC setup, despite it being three weeks since her graduation was announced, you still weren't prepared for this day. And chances are, Aqua knew it too. The air in your room was filled with Melancholy and nostalgia as you reminisced about your time with Aqua, you looked at your monitor and then to your Aqua plushie as you waited for her final stream to begin.
All of a sudden, a Discord ping caught your attention. You switched your tabs to find out that you received a message from none other than the introvert onion maid herself, a bittersweet smile crept up on your face as you read it, simply reading "Enjoy the show."

That message brought you back to the past again, when she would routinely ask you anxiously if you were going to watch her stream, it started off at the very day she would make her debut and continued on for 6 golden years. Somewhere down that line she began to act more confidently in herself, she switched from going "(Y/N)... Will you watch my stream today too...?" to "I hope you enjoy the stream (Y/N)! Heehee!" It was a source of pride for you in a way, being able to see her change so much over the years in ways that even her most loyal fans never did. Being friends with her online had its perks, allowing you to keep contact with her even though you lived literally across the country from her. At the very start of it she was pretty distant, on average she would message you twice a week, and the exchanges didn't last very long most of the time. She was still too shy at that time, and honestly you couldn't judge her. You went through a period like that during high school too, it was a rough time.
You looked at her message again, it was the only message she would send you that day, and you knew it would probably be her last message to you now.
As the time of her graduation stream drew closer you took deep breaths to steel yourself for this, after all this might actually be the final time you'd get to see her live.

Like you expected, her graduation concert was filled with melancholy and somber. The whole 2nd generation was there, and over 220k people showed up to watch Hololive second generation talent Minato Aqua's final stream. Aqua gave it her all during that performance, probably the best you've ever seen from her. And for a time, it made you forget that this was a graduation stream and that you'll never see her again live. That was until she tearfully gave her final goodbyes to Hololive and her fans, ending the stream and her 6 year long career as a Hololive talent. Seeing the stream end struck you hard, and when you checked Discord, you saw that her account was practically wiped as if she never existed. You didn't get a chance to properly say goodbye to her, and that hit you harder than a crashing plane hitting your house. It hurt, a lot. And you felt tears gathering up in your eyes, in the end though you managed to hold it in, taking a few deep breaths to steady your racing and aching heart as you shut off your computer, that's how it ended, that's how a 6 year long friendship with an idol concluded. Afterwards it felt like a portion of your life was missing, no one to message you daily if you were going to watch their stream, and no adorable onion to talk with in a Discord call. Most onions don't actually make humans cry, cutting onions just irritates the nerves around our eyes and makes us tear up. But the departure of this particular onion from your life... It was the worst experience you've had with an onion in your entire life.
