After what happened yesterday our MC Hiromi was in sadness after coming out gay to his parents. Thankfully his best friend Hana was there to support him.
we are moving 2 days later..
"Hiromi, you're going to love this," Hana whispered with a mischievous smile, her eyes dancing with excitement. "The new student, Akito, is going to be your study partner for the upcoming science project."
Hiromi looked up from his desk, with confusion. The classroom buzzed with the usual cacophony of teenage whispers and shuffling papers. "Are you serious?" he asked, trying to keep his voice steady."As serious as a heart attack," Hana confirmed, nudging him gently. "It's about plants, so you're in luck. You've got the greenest thumb in the school."The bell rang, and the room erupted into the familiar din of chairs scraping against the floor and books slammed shut. The students began to file out of the classroom, leaving behind a wake of laughter and the scent of freshly sharpened pencils.
Hiromi's stomach was a knot of nerves as he approached Akito, who was standing by the window, staring out at the schoolyard. He took a deep breath trying to speak outloud, steeling himself for the conversation ahead. "Hey, I'm your study partner for the plant project," he said,Akito turned, revealing a pair of piercing blue eyes and a guarded expression. He took Hiromi's hand in a firm grip, his palm cool and dry. "I figured since we already sit next to each other" he said, his voice a pleasant baritone.
Hiromi felt the weight of the past two days heavy on his shoulders. The tension from his conversation with his parents about his sexuality still lingered, and he hoped that working with Akito would offer a much-needed distraction. "We should get started," he suggested, trying to sound more confident than he felt. "Do you want to come over to my place after school today?"
Akito nodded, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips. "Sure, I'd like that."The rest of the school day dragged on like a never-ending Monday. Each class felt like a marathon, but finally, the last bell rang, and the students flooded into the hallways. Hiromi gathered his books and made his way to the exit, where he found Akito waiting patiently, his backpack slung over one shoulder."Ready?" Akito asked, raising an eyebrow.
"As ready as I'll ever be," Hiromi replied with a forced chuckle, "God why did I say that, I sounded so stupid" he thought trying to shake off his nerves. They walked to his house in a comfortable silence, the warmth of the afternoon sun casting dappled shadows across the sidewalk. The leaves of the trees rustled gently, whispering secrets to one another above them.
Once inside, they settled into the cozy living room, surrounded by potted plants that lined the windowsills. The faint scent of soil and the occasional buzz of a distant bee filled the air. The room was bathed in the soft, green light that filtered through the leaves, creating a serene atmosphere that seemed to encapsulate their shared love for nature.Hiromi pulled out a stack of books and notes from his backpack, spreading them across the coffee table. He noticed Akito eyeing the collection of plants with a hint of curiosity. "My mom's the one with the green thumb," he said, blushing slightly. "I just help out."Akito nodded, his gaze lingering on the vibrant ferns and blooming orchids. "It's really peaceful here," he commented, setting his own bag down. They dove into the project, discussing different types of plants and their ecological significance. The conversation flowed naturally, their shared interest acting as a bridge over any awkwardness that might have arisen. As they worked, the silence between them grew less tense, and more like the quiet hum of a well-oiled machine. The afternoon sun painted the room in a soft, warm glow, casting long shadows across the floor. They studied side by side, occasionally glancing at each other's notes and offering suggestions.
Akito's hand brushed against Hiromi's as they reached for the same book, sending a jolt of electricity through him. He pulled away, his cheeks flushing, and pretended to be absorbed in the text.

The air grew thick with the scent of blooming jasmine from a pot in the corner, mingling with the faint aroma of pine needles from the Christmas tree that hadn't been taken down yet.
Akito, tall and lanky, his hair a cascade of soft black waves, leaned over the textbook, his eyes narrowed in concentration. His fingers tapped a staccato rhythm on the pages as he absorbed the information. Hiromi watched him from the corner of his eye, noticing the way Akito's eyes lit up with enthusiasm every time they discovered something new about their leafy subjects. It was infectious, and before he knew it, he was caught up in the excitement too. They were a study in contrasts, with Akito's animated gestures and deep voice contrasting with Hiromi's more reserved demeanor and soft-spoken nature.
As they delved into the complex world of photosynthesis, the hours slipped away unnoticed. The only interruptions were the occasional bird song from outside and the distant murmur of neighborhood children playing.
The room grew dimmer as the sun dipped lower in the sky, and the shadows grew longer, stretching out like the roots of the very plants they studied.
Hiromi's mother, noticing their dedication, brought them a tray of steaming tea and cookies, setting it down on the table with a gentle clink. Akito looked up, his eyes bright with curiosity as he took in the homey scene. "Thanks, Mrs. Tanaka," he said, his voice carrying a hint of surprise."Call me Yuko," she said warmly, giving him a knowing smile. "You're welcome here anytime."Hiromi could tell his mother didn't like the fact a boy came over just right after coming out, no one noticed the look on her face but I knew she despised him. Her words hung in the air, a gentle reminder that Akito was indeed a welcome presence in their home.
They returned to their work, the sound of their pencils scribbling on paper a comforting background melody. The project was coming along well, their ideas meshing like the intertwined roots of the ivy that grew up the trellis outside the window.
Hiromi thought "we seem to be getting along.
What does that make us????"
