Day 5/14

The sound of fresh heavy falling rain beating against the window woke Iris and Matt up the next morning. Not wanting to wake up the other, they stayed in the same position they had slept in. Matt with his arms wrapped around Iris, while she intertwined their legs and rested her head back on his exposed chest. Little did they know they were both already awake, listening to their heartbeats synchronize and move in bliss to the other.

It wasn't until Iris heard Matt attempt to quietly clear his throat that they spoke to each other.

"I didn't know you were awake" Iris perks and sits up with a smile. She now faces him, placing her hand on his chest and quickly fixing his hair that fell in front of his face. Her hair was in a giant, messy knot behind her and she had puffy sleepy eyes, but Matt still thought she looked beautiful. He wouldn't have minded waking up next to that face even if the world begged him not to.

"I've been awake listening to you snore" Matt jokingly smirks, his eyes flickering from her lips, to her eyes, to her hands as he observes her body language

"I do not snore!" Iris gasps "That's actually the craziest thing someone has ever said to me. You should be ashamed of yourself, Matthew" She shakes her head and pretends to be hurt, but Matt could see her sarcastically smile through her hair that attempted to cover it

"Kid...I've heard Chris tell you that you could be a professional wrestler if you knew how to bulk. I promise you what i just said is definitely not the craziest thing someone has ever told you" Matt laughs and pokes her

"I'll let it go" Iris shakes her head again, and decides to get a kick out of him "But only because you're my hot best friend" Matt raises one eyebrow and gently pushes her so she topples back flat onto the bed. She laughs like a maniac, knowing the mission was complete. Truth is, Iris didn't know what they were. More than friends, less than dating. They were stuck in an awkward what are we phase that neither of them wanted to think about.

"I didn't know best friends make out" Matt says with a smirk, staring into her eyes. She would be lying if she said Matt didn't make her nervous or give her butterflies, while at the same time she felt completely comfortable around him.

"Matt!" Iris gasps as her cheeks flush red "Where did this sudden burst of boldness come from?" She lowly chuckles

"You make me a better person" Matt sarcastically rolls his eyes, though a hint of genuine love and meaning in his words and tone "Enough of being ushy gushy...It's time to get up and wait for Nick and Chris to get here"

"What are they coming for? I know you told me...I sorta forgot..."Iris chuckles, sitting up and leaning against Matt ,exhausted. He kisses her forehead before standing up and running his hands through his hair, returning his gaze back to Iris who was still sitting on the corner of the bed

"Smallest memory in the world" Matt laughs and shakes his head "We wanted to use your backyard to film a video since it's gated in and private. But this rain is pretty heavy, I don't know"

"Is it safe for them-"

Iris was cut off by the power cutting off, a rush of silence whooshing through the house as electronics cut off. Darkness floods every room, the small light drifting in from the dim windows.

The only noise was the still noise of rain falling onto the house, dripping on every window, and the rain gutter collecting droplets of water.

"Let's get this place lit back up so I can see that pretty face of yours again" Matt smiles, grabbing Iris's hand and helping her off the bed as she gasps with a smile, immediately attempting to cover her rosy cheeks
