"Are we ready to set sail?" Maelstrom asks Suri. She nods and the party begins preparing to leave.
The ocean breeze is refreshing as Artemis leans her head over the side of the ship, watching fish and the occasional dolphin leap out of the water. They all watch as the archipelago of Mudhole becomes a distant dot on the horizon. It'll take about five days to get to Makadoli, and they'll need to stop in Oros first to resupply.
During the second night, while the party is all asleep, Marrovar sits, meditating on the deck of the ship. He doesn't need to sleep the way the rest of the party does, so he often finds himself up all night, bored. Then an idea comes to him. He reaches in his bag and pulls out a sparkly pink potion and lifts his helmet slightly to drink it, looking around to make sure no one sees. His body tingles as he feels his bones shift as he shrinks from Six foot six to just a little over a foot tall.
Dennis stares at him and he stares back, then leaps into action, jumping onto Dennis's back and riding around the deck of the ship, whooping and hollering, but not loud enough to wake anyone.
On the third day all is well. "We should arrive in Oros in a few hours," Maelstrom says to Suri as she mans the wheel of the ship.
"Good," she says, "I need a break from sailing."
"Yeah and if we're being honest," Artemis says, walking up the steps, the the landing where the wheel is, "I'm feeling a bit sea sick."
"If you vomit on my ship you're cleaning it up."
It isn't until later in the day, when the sun is setting, when the party hears a terrible screech. Artemis looks to the sky to see four silhouettes in the clouds. "We got company!"
Four harpies descend from the clouds, landing on the deck of the ship with their talons scratching the wood. They each let out screeches and one of them lunges at artemis, pinning her to the deck of the ship.
Marrovar stretches, now back to his full size thanks to the potion effects only lasting a day. "Never encountered a harpy before," he says, reaching for his sword. He runs through one of the harpies, blood staining the deck of the ship. It makes a terrible croaking sound and falls lip.
Artemis pushes the harpy off her and scrambles backward. She calls on the dormant magic inside her and pushes it outward toward the harpy, creating a large flashbang that blinds the harpies and even herself a bit. She blinks away the spots in her vision as her ears ring. One of the harpies, startled by the explosion flies off. The other two are disoriented. Maelstrom seizes the opportunity to wrap ropes around the blinded harpies, tying them to the mast of the ship.
Marrovar walks up to them, his bloody sword dragging on the ground. "Let's kill em."
"No, Marrovar. Be logical. We could sell them on the black market."
"Ooooooh that's a good idea." He looks at the harpies, whos vision begins to return, it sees Marrovar and bites in his direction. "Oooo this ones feisty. Are you sure I can't fight it?"
"Marrovar."
"Fine."
Hours pass as the sun behind to set. Petra stumbles out from below the deck holding a mug of brown liquid that spills over the sides a bit. She stands at the bow of the ship and yells, "I see land!"
Marrovar, Maelstrom, and Artemis rush to the bow of the ship and there in the distance is Oros. The bright lights of a city illuminating the harbor.
That's it y'all, that's a wrap on session two.
