Session Two: Chapter Two

"Come one, come all!" A human man in a red overcoat cheers. He stands in front of a large merchant's wagon. Outside there's cages with various animals inside. "I've got beasts from all over the realm!"

Maelstrom takes an interest in the man and walks over, followed by Marrovar. "What kind of beasts?"

"Oh many kinds my feathered friend! Come see inside my wagon."

The two follow the animal trafficker inside his wagon where there's two large cages. One with a rhinoceros beetle the size of a small dog. "This beastie is from Humbleoak, and he'll grow to the size of a real rhinoceros."

Next to the beetle is a cage with what appears to be a shark with four legs, also the size of a small dog. "And this little fellow is from Makadoli."

Marrovar's eyes grow wide with awe. A real life Humbleoak beetle, just like the ones in his village when he was a kid growing up. To think he could have have a piece of home with him.

"Maelstrom I need that beetle."

"Ah you've got a good eye," The man says. "That little beastie there is five hundred gold."

Maelstrom's coin purse is light, but he has an idea. He grips his amulet and feels power flowing through him. The words come out dripping in magic, "How about you give it to us for free?"

The words hit the mans ears and he's immediately enchanted. His eyes dilate as he smiles, "Free, of course."

The man unlocks the cage and Marrovar picks up the beetle, "Hi little guy, your name will be Dennis."

Marrovar and Maelstrom leave the merchant's wagon with their new companion. Out by the road they find Petra, Suri, and Artemis waiting from them.

"Is that a fucking bug?" Artemis says.

"He's my son, Artemis. His name is Dennis."

"Greeting Dennis," Suri says. "I heard a rumor of a magic shop on Ship Wreck Island that I want to check out."
