𝑲𝑨𝑹𝑨𝑻𝑬 𝑾𝑨𝑺 finally clicking for everyone. The newer kids had started to find their rhythm, and Oakley couldn't help but feel proud. Especially for Eli. Seeing him carry himself with confidence brought a smile to her face. She'd always known he was cool, but now he finally knew it too.The class was progressing smoothly as Johnny walked the rows, observing and correcting stances. "Stabilize your base, Hawk," he instructed, briefly tapping the blue-haired teen's leg before moving on.
But then a younger student flinched as Johnny passed, shrinking back instinctively. Johnny paused, narrowing his eyes.
"Did you just flinch, Virgin?"
The boy didn't respond, but his embarrassed face said it all. Johnny straightened, walking past another student, then suddenly feinted toward him. This kid flinched too.
"Holy shit," Johnny exclaimed, throwing his arms up. "We've got a room full of flinchers!"
The class stood silent for a moment before half-heartedly yelling, "Yes, Sensei!"
Oakley shook her head with a sigh.
"That wasn't a question!" Johnny barked, his frustration echoing off the dojo walls. "Raise your hand if you've never been punched in the face."

"Put your hands down. That's just sad," he muttered.
He walked back to the front of the class, shaking his head. "All your lives you've been avoiding fights—scared of breaking your nose, losing a tooth, or all that concussion nonsense."
Oakley leaned toward Miguel, whispering in disbelief. "Does he even know concussions are real? Has he heard of CTE?"
Miguel shrugged. "Probably not. He told me my asthma was made up."
Johnny clapped his hands together, regaining their attention. "I've got the perfect solution. Before you leave this dojo, each and every one of you is gonna take a punch to the face."
