"𝑶𝑨𝑲𝑳𝑬𝒀, watch your knee!" Eli shrieked, stumbling backwards as Oakley stepped in with a sharp front kick. Eli blocked it, sliding to the side, and moved to punch her in the back.

Before he could land the hit, Oakley pivoted, grabbing his shirt and yanking him to the ground with a smirk.

"That's not karate, Oakley!" Eli hissed, getting up and brushing dirt off his pants.

"We're not at the tournament, so who cares?" she replied with a shrug, already resetting into her fighting stance.

Eli scowled but didn't argue as he bounced back into position.

Meanwhile, on the bench a few feet away, Miguel sat with his arms crossed, his expression a mix of frustration and worry. Aisha and Demetri had dragged him to the park to "cool off," but it was doing the opposite.

"I still think you're overreacting," Demetri said with a sigh, glancing at Miguel.

Oakley rolled her eyes mid-block as Eli threw a halfhearted jab at her. She was already regretting coming. The last thing she wanted was to hear about Miguel and Sam's relationship drama... again. Especially when it made her feel a weird, twisted knot in her chest .

It didn't help that Miguel was spiraling after seeing Sam having dinner with some guy. Sure, Oakley had her thoughts about Sam—most of them unflattering—but her being a cheater wasn't one of them.

"I'm not overreacting, dude. I know what I saw," Miguel snapped, frustration clear in his voice.

Eli paused mid-swing and turned his head. "So, what, you saw her eating dinner with some random chub? Big deal," he shrugged, stepping away to grab a water bottle.

"Maybe it was her brother or something."

"Brothers don't look at their sisters like that," Miguel shot back, his voice rising.

Demetri raised an eyebrow. "Depends on what part of the country you're in."

Oakley let out a groan and walked over to join Aisha on the bench. She plopped down beside her, shooting Eli a glare. "Thanks for pussing out," she muttered.
