"we love the things
we love for what they
are."

__________It was a couple weeks after the gang rescued Gwen. Word around the state was Christopher Washington was doing everything in his power to find Gwen, after his failed plan with his brother. Despite that, Dutch advised now was the time for the Lemoyne bank robbery. Gwen felt uneasy as they stood around talking about it.
She had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach that something would go wrong and she nervously glanced over at the man whom she was falling inlove with. She took a minute to admire his features, his shaggy disheveled hair, his beard had grown back quick after he shaved it not too long ago and she really enjoyed his facial hair. Gwen felt Arthur squeeze her hand as he continued his conversation with Dutch, John and Hosea.
Arthur knew Gwen was admiring him, he always felt when she was staring at him. She assured him that he was perfect in her eyes but to him he was nothing...he didn't think he was good looking or a good person. All he knew was Gwen seemed to like something about him and for that he was ever grateful. She was always there to pick him up when he was down; she was healing nicely yet he was still hesitant to join the bank robbery. Gwen assured the outlaw that she would be safe with Miss Grimshaw and the girls; minus Abigail.
It took a lot of convincing but Arthur eventually agreed, just to prove that he trusted Gwen's judgment that she would be safe and sound when he got back. Sadie promised Arthur that nobody would touch another hair on Gwen's head and Arthur believed her, so him and Gwen shared one last sweet kiss filled with so much love it caused the gang members to turn their attention away in embarrassment.
"Come back to me cowboy."Gwen murmured with a soft smile playing on her lips as Arthur took a moment to admire her and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead before joining the rest of the gang members near the hitching post. "They'll be okay."Sadie assured the younger woman as she watched sadly as Arthur rode away. Little did they know, shit was really about to hit the fan. And Gwen would not see Arthur for awhile.
___________
Gwen still couldn't shake the uneasy feeling she had as she worked on mending the holes in Arthur's clothes. She couldn't help but think that something was wrong...very wrong. "Hey."the voice of Mary-Beth broke her out of her thoughts; startling her slightly. "Oh goodness...Mary-Beth—hello." The blonde girl apologized for startling her and asked if she was alright. Gwen shook her head with a sigh.
"I have a terrible feeling Mary-Beth..like something went wrong with the bank robbery."Gwen expressed how worried she was and fiddled nervously with the tattered shirt in her hands. "Gwen..."Mary-Beth spoke in a soft tone; she had no idea how worried Gwen really was. She took a seat next to the Washington girl and listened closely as she spoke.
"I-I'm in love with Arthur, Mary-Beth...I love him with my whole heart and I was just so scared to tell him that before he left and—now what if it's too late?" Mary-Beth opened her mouth to speak but the sound of Sadie shouting cut their conversation short. "Ladies let's go! We need to get up out of here and fast"Sadie spoke as she began rushing around to help pack everything into the wagon. "We'll talk later."Mary-Beth said with a squeeze to Gwen's hand before standing to her feet and rushing off.
The cause for them leaving was Charles rode back into camp alerting them that the bank robbery went wrong and they lost Hosea and Lenny, John was captured by Pinkertons and Arthur,Dutch, Javier, Bill and Micah ended up on a boat to escape the law and Gwen let out a cry hearing about the two lost souls and the remaining gang members were lost on a boat somewhere in the water.
As they packed everything up Sadie wrote a letter for the men incase they came back looking for them. She suggested they move to Lakay, it wasn't the best choice but it would work for now. Gwen doodled in her journal during their journey to the swamp lands. She couldn't help but doodle a portrait of Arthur, she drew from memory before he left for the bank robbery...and now he was lost on a boat and John was locked up in Siskia Penitentiary and was on the verge of being hanged. Her heart broke at the thought of never seeing Arthur again.
It took a couple of hours but eventually the remaining gang members arrived at Lakay. Gwen kept to herself, not feeling like being bothered. She just wanted to know Arthur and the men were okay and alive. She busied herself with chores; helping Pearson with the cooking, and helping sew the men's clothes. But she just couldn't shake Arthur from her thoughts. He was the only thing she thought about until she got herself ready to lay down for the night.
Her thoughts keeping her awake caused her to toss and turn throughout the night. A few tears fell from her eyes as she came to the conclusion that surely Arthur and the rest of the Van der Linde gang members were killed. Abigail came to comfort her after hearing the young woman let out a few pained cries. She was the only other person who knew what Gwen was going through. Her husband and father of her child was locked up in Sisika Penitentiary and wasn't sure if she would see him again.
Gwen eventually cried herself to sleep as Abigail comforted her, and Abigail's heart broke at the sight of a broken Gwen, she truly was in love with Arthur Morgan and she prayed that night. Abigail prayed that Arthur, John and the rest of the men would be safe and alive, minus Micah of course. He was a pig. Gwen eventually cried herself to sleep with thoughts of Arthur Morgan flooding her mind.
