17. Distant

Sorry for the mistakes

Anubhav

I stood in front of the ward where CM and DGP were already present talking to her. I looked at her through the glass see through patch on the door. I had to accept the fact that Only a sight of her comforted my heart. Her face looked pale and her eyes......her eyes held emotions which were unreadable. This is really a contrast to her usual personality. Her eyes were always kind and open for every emotion. I had always succeeded in reading that beautiful and dark brown pair unlike today.

I took a deep breath and entered the room. Everyone's attention was drawn to me especially her. No body's attention bothered as much as her's. I feared to look into those brown orbs. But I had to.

"Kaisi Hain aap?" I asked her. Oh my voice sounds cracked. No no no
It shouldn't.

"Thik Hain!" She said with a small sad smile. I felt something breaking inside me. I gulped my emotions.

" You did a great job Ms Mallik!" The DGP praised her. I looked at her face to find some kind of solace but disappointed me found those same pale face and sad eyes. I yearned to see joy in those. I knew that she was broken, I even knew the reason but I could do....Nothing.

The CM and DGP were praising her and my eyes were glued to her face. I was eager to see a tinge of joy in that face. However I got disappointed.
After sometime the doctor entered.

"Had your diet Ms Mallik?" He asked with a smile. She gave a small nod.

"Good! You will be discharged soon but after that you have to be at bed rest for atleast a month!" He said seriously. She glanced at the seniors before replying

"One month is quite a long period of time doctor" she said quite worriedly. Her voice sounded weak and couldn't reach her usual pitch.

" You're body needs this much time to heal." He said, she nodded agreeing.

" Doctor I have to travel, is is okay?" She asked and that's when it struck me that she will leave. I licked my lips and gulped to wet my throat and lips which dried just at her words.

"No-no not at all, but why do you need to ?" He asked. She glanced at me before replying.

"Doctor, I don't have any of my family members here!" Ouch! I felt something break inside me. Right! She had no family present here.

Haseena

"Aisa kyun keh rahi hain madam, mein hoon yahan aapka khyal rakhne ke liye....aap mere saath bhi toh reh sakti hain!" Antara said worriedly. She looked as if my words hurted her a bit. I gave her a small smile and was about to say something when CM intrupted.

"And the department will appoint a nurse or caretaker for you, ms mallik. Don't worry!" He said in a fatherly tone. If my abbu would be alive he would have been of the same age as CM Shahab.

" Yes Ms Mallik, the team and the department is here to take care of you!" Ved sir supported CM sahab's words. I was overwhelmed with the kind words I got but deep down my heart there was a small hope that maybe I will also get atleast some sweet words from him. I glance at him and found him already staring at me. His face looked pale just like me. I am sure my eyes showed him a small bit of my expectation which is filled completely in my heart.

Huh!

My already broken self broke once again into pieces as he averted his gaze. Actually it is my fault. I shouldn't have expected this. I should  remember that he hates me.

But I won't cause anymore pain to you Anubhav. I will leave, I will leave as soon as I can.

Anubhav stood infront of the glass see through gazing at Haseena who was deep asleep on hospital bed due to effect of medicine. Anubhav felt like a creep but he couldn't help himself.
A nurse was coming towards her chamber and noticed Anubhav gloomily looking inside the chamber.

"Sir!" She called him politely. But her eyebrows scrunched as he didn't reacted. She called him again and this time a little louder startling him.

"Ah-y- yes!" He replied fumbling.

"Sir aap yahan kyun kahde hain andar chaliye!" She said politely but he became defensive.

"Aap hume janti hain?" He asked she nodded in no.

"Toh phir koi bhi aake kisi patient ke chamber ke samne khada rahega aap use andar jane dengi!" He said with an angry tone. His care for her had turned his fear.

"Sir ma'am ke chamber mein aate hue aur unke operation ke waqt bhi dekha tha isliye, aap gussa kyun kar rahe hain sir ?" She asked. She was around late 50s of her life. Anubhav immediately understood his tone.

" Ah maaf kijiyega hum Zara tension mein the!" He said apologizing. The lady smiled and caressed his shoulder. He looked at her then at her.

" Koi baat nahi beta, mein samajh sakti hoon tumhari halat...tum chaho toh andar chal sakte ho!" She said.

" Nahi koi baat nahi, waise bhi wapas hi Jaa rahe the!" He said. He had a prescription with him which he had taken from ved. He went to Pharmacy. Bought necessary ones and handed them to the nurse before he left.

After a week of hospitalization she was discharged and had moved to Antara's house by being forced. She was granted a month's leave as she wasn't able to walk properly and she needed time for it. Antara took care of her like a mother which obviously overwhelmed her. Everyone had gone to meet her and some even sent flowers except Anubhav. This thought tormented her. But she had convinced herself that he hated her.

On the other side Anubhav took each and every update on her health from ved. His condition was no better than her. He had grown pale and comparatively weak. His heart was screaming to see her but he couldn't gather courage to face her. Both ved and Antara were well aware of the pain of the lovers but they sat helplessly.

"Humare paas ek idea hai sir!" Antara told ved. Both of them were sitting in his cabin discussing ideas for reunion of the Anuseena.

"Sir Haseena madam ko bata dete hain ki..............!" Antara expressed her idea. Ved nodded being convinced by the plan.
