3.1: Going to the clinic

Ellie's POV: July 2026

Today me and Leah are going to the clinic where they do IVF. We're having a meeting with them and going over everything. I go find an outfit. I pull on ripped jeans, a white t-shirt and runners. I brush my hair and leave it down.

I decide do light make up and I smile. I go downstairs and see Leah is dressed. She's making pancakes and I smile. "Morning baby, you hungry?" asked Leah. "I am" I said, smiling. I walk over and hug her from behind. "Smells good" I said, smiling. We share a kiss and then when she plates it, we sit down and dig in.

"You ok?" asked Leah. "I am, just nervous and excited" I said. "Everything will be ok" said Leah. Once we finish, we clean up and then we look at the time. "Ok, it's time to leave" said Leah, smiling. "Let's go" I said. We grab our stuff and we leave. 

We drive to the clinic and once we get there, we park and I kiss Leah for luck. We step out and walk inside. Once we get inside, we check in and then we sit down. I smile and Leah rubs my thighs. 

"Mrs Williamson?" asked the nurse. We stand up and we head into the room. We sit down and she smiles. "I'm Jackie, I will be your consultant" said Jackie. "Hi, I'm Ellie and this is my wife Leah" I said. "It's lovely to meet you, so any medical conditions?" asked Jackie. 

"I have Endometriosis" said Leah. "I am perfectly healthy" I said. "Right, who wants to carry first?" asked Jackie. "I am, we've come to a decision it would be me" I said. "Ok, perfect" said Jackie. 

"We're going to do some tests now on Ellie now, just a blood test and a scan" said Jackie. I nod and she does all the tests and scans. Once we finish, she smiles. "We will call with the results. Now we will do a scan on Leah, just to see her ovaries and eggs" said Jackie. Leah nods and lies down. She pulls her top up and Jackie squirts gel onto her stomach.

She places the wand down and smiles. "OK, perfect. Your two ovaries are healthy and a good amount of eggs." said Jackie. We ask a few more questions and then we leave to go home. We then decide to go food shopping and once we finish, we head home. I decide to go into Cobham. "I'm going to inform the club of my decision" I said. Leah nods. "I'll come with you" said Leah. I nod and we head to Cobham and then when we arrive we head to Sonia's office. I knock.

"Come in" said Sonia. We step inside and sit down. "What can I do for you?" asked Sonia. "Me and Leah are trying for a baby through IVF and I'm carrying the baby. I want to be there for my baby so I'm retiring now. I don't want to take a break, come back and miss some milestones" I said.

"Ellie, that's amazing news about the baby! And of course, I understand everything. It's hard being a footballer and a mum, trying to balance and then missing certain milestones. I am going to ask, you have your full license to be able to coach and you'd be a valued member of staff as a coach" said Sonia. "Really?" I ask. "Yes, we could do with you expert and the players look up to you" said Sonia. "Of course! Yes!" I said. 

"I just texted Paul, his bringing a contract" said Sonia. Paul comes in and I sign the contract. "Thank you so much for this" I said. We hug and then we leave. Once we get home, we pull on pyjama's and decide to cook a chicken dinner. 

Once we finish cooking, we dig in and then once we finish, we clean up. Once we finish, we turn on a movie and relax for the whole night. Once the movie is over, we head to bed. We fall asleep in each others arms.
