Usopp mother laid in the bed sickly and usopp kept trying to put on a brave face for Y/n telling her that his mom was just under the weather and she'll get better soon.
Y/n being only six believed her brother. Usopp had asked his mom for some money and he used it to get Y/n some dolls to play with in order to distract her from Banchinas condition and it worked. However it only worked for a little bit.
Y/n noticed Banchina growing paler and paler, she was so weak she couldn't even get out of bed, sometimes she'd feel extremely hot or cold.
"Ms Banchina?" Y/n spoke softly as she held onto her doll usopp bought her a while back. The doctors that surrounded Banchina's bed glanced at the girl but move aside so she could properly see Banchina.
Banchina smiled weakly and looked over at the young girl. "..sweetheart, shouldn't you be eating." Y/n frowned as she saw Banchina was struggling to even look at her direction because of her body slowly shutting down.
"I..I'm not that hungry.." Y/n moved closer to the bed and Banchina continued to smile warmly at her. She gave Y/n a small head pat and then cupped the young girls cheek with her hand. "You..are such a wonderful young girl, Y/n. I'm sorry for..worrying you and usopp"
Y/n doesn't say anything as she tried to hold back tears. Banchina's grip was slowly lessening. Usopp bursted through the door and raced to his mothers bed. He stood next to Y/n and saw how she was trying to hold back her tears. "Pirates are ashore mom, they're ashore!" He called out to his mother and felt himself tearing up but he refused to for y/n's sake.
The doctors quickly warned usopp not to scream but usopp ignored them and looked at Y/n. "Y/n don't cry, mom will be just fine" he smiled and Y/n looked at her brother in tears, she doesn't respond to his lie. She could tell Banchina was slowly leaving them.
Usopp looked at his mom, "dad will take us all to sea with him, me, you, and y/n!" Hoping his lie would somehow give her strength to continue fighting. His mother smiled, her eyes filled with sadness. "Your father won't come back. But I'm still proud to have married him." She continued to breathe heavily as her focus on the kids declined.
"Can you kids promise me something.." the two kids look at Banchina. Y/n was full on crying and Usopp was trying to hold in his tears as to not cause more worry for the situation.
"Anything mom.." usopp said trying not to let his voice crack. "Stay together..no matter what, you two are family. Become strong for each other and yourselves." She said before her eyes closed, the doctors quickly rush the kids out. They closed the door and usopp broke and let's out a huge loud sob. Y/n hugged him and the two cried together.
