"Y/n..are you awake" Thando said worringly as Y/n continued to keep herself locked in the room, it had been a week since her mom was declared dead, Julia's funeral happened a few days afterwards.
Since then the lively girl was quiet and barely ate, she rarely left her room. Thando sighed as he got no response from the young girl. After Julia died it was revealed she left a letter for y/n to read. The letter was in the guest bedroom. The same room Julia shot herself.
Y/n was under the blanket, she hugged her pillow, her face buried inside of it. The door slightly opened and Thando looked at the young girl sadly. He sighed and in his hand was a plate of chicken and rice. He placed the plate on her nightstand and gave her head a reassuring pat.
"I'll be in the living room if you need me.." he said gently and slowly took his hand off her head. He left the room and she stayed under the blanket.
For what felt like hours the doors finally open, it was usopp. He looked at the bed and saw Y/n was still under the blankets. He saw the plate of food which looked untouched for the most part. His gaze went back to y/n.
"Hey..are you awake?" He said and sat on the bed. He frowned as he got no response whatsoever. It was silent before Y/n lifted her head from her pillow. "You know I found something really cool in the bathroom" usopp said but Y/n doesn't respond.
"Something I know you're gonna love!" He said more enthusiastically and she raised her head up from her pillow slightly. Usopp gently took the blanket off her and she saw he had her swan necklace.
She frowned and sat up straight. "I thought I lost it.." usopp handed it to her and he gave her a small smile. "Nope, it was on the floor next to the sink" she doesn't say anything and stared at the necklace.
Her parents both treasured this necklace. Julia wore it practically every day after Angus bought it for her in replacement for a ring. That was until angus died and Julia had to leave a four year old Y/n with her aunt, that was the first day Julia ever took off the necklace. To give it to y/n.
She furrowed her eyebrows and usopp frowned, he placed a hand on her hand that was holding the necklace.
"Here I'll help you put it in." He said and she only glanced up at him, the hand that was clenched up slowly unclenched and that allowed usopp to take the necklace. She fixed her position and gave usopp her back. He puts the necklace on her and she touched it unconsciously.
"Everything's going to be fine, Y/n. I promise, or—or my name isn't captain usopp." he smiled and she furrowed her eyebrows. "He's right." Thando said and the two looked surprised to see him, he was leaning against the door frame and seemed to be watching the kids interact.
"You two—the three of us are a family. I promise to look after you kids the best I can, I'll work day and night for you two to be happy. Whatever it takes, I'll do it." He said seriously. These kids have been through a lot at such a young age and no one had no idea what the future would hold.
Thando went to sit on the bed with them and the two kids looked at him, he placed a hand on their shoulders. "No matter the situation, I'll be there for you but you two also have to be there for each other if I'm not there to do so." the two kids look at each other then back at Thando who seemed to be trying to hold back tears of his own. They all bursted into tears and hugged each other.
