As I walked towards my room, I realized how embarrassing this afternoon was for me.Did I really just fling someone's backpack onto the ground to make a point? Wow, I might have really lost it.
Anyway, I tried to forget about it while I dropped my backpack on the floor of my room. I placed it next to my new DIY corner desk with storage space. Then, I decided to look at myself in the mirror.
The first thing I noticed was the resemblance I have with my mother.
We both have siren-green eyes, a slim nose, and heart-shaped lips. The resemblance is uncanny. The rest of my face doesn't look like anyone in my family. I don't have my strong jawline from either my mom or dad. I also don't know where my strong eyebrows or olive skin tone come from.
But those features aren't very noticeable until you really look at me. Most people say I look a lot like my mother.
Looking in the mirror, I saw the freckles I had covered up with concealer. I didn't think I was ugly, but my beauty was nothing compared to Caitlyn's. I hated to admit it, but I was kind of envious of her.
She was effortlessly prettier, while I felt like a pig with lipstick trying to prove I belonged next to a future Victoria's Secret supermodel.
After examining my face in the mirror, I decided to change into something more comfortable. Once I was done, I walked towards the living room.
I was lucky to have the only room downstairs, so I didn't have to climb the stairs all the time to go to school.
When I entered the living room, I saw Josh putting on Cocomelon on YouTube. It was River's favorite show and my parents' and my worst nightmare.
She watched it at least ten times a day, and that's only when I noticed. I made my way to the couch and lay down like a potato. After watching the show with Josh and my sister for 30 minutes, I got a message on my phone. It was from Nicole.
I was a bit surprised because I didn't really understand why she would text me of all people. But I opened it quickly, scared it was something bad.
