My heart was racing, but I felt at ease. My body was freezing, but the world around me was full of darkness. I tried to open my eyes, but something was holding me down. Something was stopping me. My body ached, and my chest burned. I screamed, my scream muffled. I opened my eyes, darkness surrounding me, and that's when I realized I was in water. I pushed my arms next to me, and kicked my feet. My chest burned, and the water was filling my lungs slowly. I broke the water's surface, panic rushing through my veins.

"Daytona!" I heard a panicked yell. I watched D'Angelo dive under the water again, before feeling the current push me. I took slow breaths, my chest feeling like it was closing up. I looked around me, the giant body of water surrounded us, and we were in the middle of it. I could feel my clothes start to weigh me down.

"Daytona! Where are you?!" He yelled again, but my throat was closed. My body shook both in fear and coldness. I choked back a sob, the rain still pouring down on us.

"No, No, No!" He yelled, and I could feel my panic rise more.

"D'Angelo!" I screamed in a panic. I was slowly losing my cool facade, as I floated in the middle of this river.

"Daytona!" He screamed again, and I could hear his voice get closer. I closed my eyes, the water crashing against my face. I felt his hands around my waist, picking me up more out of the water.

"I'm right here, Princess. Breathe." My heart raced as I looked down at him. His eyelids looked heavy, before he opened them up more, like he was forcing himself.

"Get on my back." He slowly turned to me, and I hooked onto his back. He winced, but started to swim towards the shore.

"Close your eyes." He whispered, and I did. I shut my eyes tightly, wishing for this nightmare to be over. My body shook as the water parted around us.

I want my Dad.

I tightened my grip on D'Angelo, and I could feel the pressure of the water slowly ease. I slowly opened my eyes, and watched D'Angelo stand straight up, and climb onto the small beach. I felt my waist band, and frowned when I noticed I didn't have my gun. I jumped off of his back, my shoes digging into the sand. We were breathing heavily, his from swimming, mine from anxiety. The moonlight shined down on us, and that's when I noticed a giant red spot on his white button up

"You're bleeding." I unbuttoned his shirt that was sticking to him, and took it off of him.

"I'm fine. We need to get to the warehouse." He spoke, pushing me off of him. I rolled my eyes, pulling his arm back to me. I took off my sweatshirt, and tossed it to the ground. I pulled off my long sleeve shirt, leaving me in my sports bra and sweatpants. I wrapped my shirt in a knot tightly around his bicep.

"It's not deep. The bullet isn't in. You should make it there, then the doctor can stitch you up." I spoke softly, as I tied the knot.

"Get your hoodie." He spoke, starting to walk away. I bent over and picked up the soaking wet hoodie.

"Why?" I asked him, raising my eyebrow before he wrapped it around his hand.

"We're stealing a car." He smiled widely, and I looked at the car in front of me. It was in someone's driveway that was right on this tiny beach.

"It's a slow car." I frowned, looking at the Chevrolet Equinox. He rolled his eyes, and punched the window. The car alarm blared, as he opened the door. I looked at his shaking hands and sighed.
