Odin Pov:The last 20 years since the war against Laufey has been peaceful. Not only have I secured the casket of ancient winters, but also a method of bringing a stable peace between Asgard and Jotunheim. As I think about the small boy of Laufey I can't help but smile. My original goal was for him to grow bonds in Asgard and come to see it as a home for when it will be time for him to reclaim Jotunheim so that he will bring forth a steady alliance between our two kingdoms. That plan, however, worked too great and I will not look forward to it when he leaves for he has grown a special place in the hearts of myself, Frigga and Thor.
The difference between Loki and Thor is like night and day. From their appearance, personality and talent. Where Loki sports midnight black hair and emerald green eyes, Thor has blonde locks with blue eyes; Where Loki is intelligent, sly, playful and mischievous; Thor is a bit arrogant, although kind-hearted and a bit of a musclehead much to my disappointment. You would expect that these two would never get along, but the two are as thick as thieves.
When we first got tutors to teach him normal education of children, I didn't expect much since my personal bias was that frost giants were not the most intellectual species, but Loki took to his studies like a fish to water. It was almost frightening to witness his intellect at work and I was a bit afraid he would succumb to the same problem as Thor and become arrogant, but when I warned him about this his words to me were...
"An arrogant person considers themselves perfect, that is the chief harm of arrogance, it would stop me from bettering myself and remain stagnant." He said to me.
He was only 14 years old at the time and I couldn't help, but be proud of the mindset of my son.
Where Thor's passion was fighting and drinking; Loki's lies in magic. When I placed the two siblings in Frigga's care to teach them magic, I hadn't expected him to be so enamoured with the art. He truly just threw away any stereotypes of frost giants, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in his original form and people would still doubt he is one.
Thor didn't have much talent in magic and it also didn't help that he viewed magic only as cheap tricks and not very honourable. I had thought Loki wouldn't be much of a warrior since his passion lied in magic, but he took to warrior training well. Even though he didn't have Thor's talent in fighting, he still had above average talent and with that and hard work he poured himself into his training, going through learning weapons with the same ferocity as his studies, but he still prefers knives and spears.
Loki Pov:
It has been years since my rebirth. I was initially afraid that someone would find out I was reincarnated, but that fear has long since vanished. When I was reborn I knew I had a second chance at life and I spent a while thinking about what I wanted to achieve in my new life.
I know I can't truly rule Asgard since I am a jotunn and I don't see myself trying to rule Jotunheim because it is too much of a wasteland with uncultured people. Sure they have superhuman strength, speed and longevity, but have nothing else of value, their shitty culture is too deeply ingrained for me to change and I won't live in a world that is more backwards than even Midgard at this time.
So I devised myself a simple, but fulfilling goal and that was to be great and enjoy myself. When I made up my mind I took to my studies with fervour. I studied everything from history, warfare, biology, physics and every subject I was taught. I prided myself on being a polymath in my previous life and wasn't willing to stop being one if I have a choice. After all one of the most common sayings is knowledge is power.
My life wasn't overly interesting until I became 7 years old. My mother decided to begin teaching Thor and I magic. I knew I would want to study magic from the beginning, but I didn't know I would love it so much. Sure, I study a lot, but the truth is I hate studying and the only reason I do it is that I want to be the best and find satisfaction in what I can do with the knowledge, but with magic, I love reading up on everything about the subject.
Thor though after learning the basics decided to quit, which in my opinion was stupid, but I am not going to complain since he already has his unfair strength that is even above normal Asgardians and I don't like people being better than me even if he is my sibling, though I didn't hate him because of that, but was slightly envious, but nothing beyond that.
This did allow me to study alone with my mother which increased my progress as well as let me spend time with my mother. In the few years I have known her, she has grown on me. I honestly couldn't believe someone could be so loving, I first thought that she was acting, but realised some people are just generally kind-hearted and she is one of those people.
Once I learned how to make proper illusions I started playing a lot of pranks on Thor and his friends, although it wasn't anything malicious. I originally only wanted to try something my namesake was famous for, but quickly came to realise it is an amusing activity to partake in and something I quickly came to love was causing a bit of mischief here and there. I guess my soul must have been a bit influenced by the original Loki or I was simply a suppressed prankster.
Thor and I were at a party and I saw that Thor was about to go to bed with a random woman and I decided to cast a spell on him to temporarily decrease his penis size and let him fart whenever he came. I don't know the exact details of what happened since I am not a voyeur and I had the company of my own woman to pay attention to.
He came to my room the next morning and barged in without me even giving him permission. I had to take a second to figure out what he was doing in my room.
"Loki undo your tricks!" Thor yelled as he looked as he was ready to fight me until he saw there was someone else on the bed.
I grinned at him and got out of bed carefully to avoid my bed partner's body being exposed and quickly cast a spell to stop sound from going into that area so she wouldn't wake.
" Ah dear brother, did you have a lovely night with Brenda, Dalia or never mind I never got her name."
The poor guy looked red as if boiled with anger."I am not in the mood for your games and for your information her name was Hilda."
I lifted my hands in the air as a show of surrender and gave a faux bow." Did you like my gift? I just wanted your evening to be better."
I remove the spell." My blessings are officially removed, ungrateful swine."
" You bastard, I can't show my face to Hilda again lest I die of embarrassment, if you weren't my brother I would have bashed your head in already." I had to suppress my laugh at his dismay expression, I am beginning to think I am a bit of a sadist.
" You don't mean that and I guess I owe you an apology." I presume a thinking pose.
" Twenty long years on this planet is clearly not for either of our psyches, so let's go to Alfheim, I overheard one of the guards say that a decennial tournament with all sorts of events is going to happen in a year and I always wanted to leave Asgard to explore the other realms."
"All forgive you this once since the offer is so enticing, but you will have to convince father yourself." He said
"Yes leave it to me, now if you would kindly leave I have a loving woman to rejoin." He just huffed and turned to leave, but not before I kicked him so he was launched out of the room.
"And remember to knock next or that kick will be harder, I am not a morning person and can be a bit vindictive to those who interrupt my sleep."
