Kane's unconscious body lay still on the medical table, the robotic arm now securely attached to the stump where his infected arm had once been. The room was thick with tension as everyone watched anxiously, waiting for signs of his recovery. The monitors beeped steadily, a small comfort in the midst of their uncertainty.

As the minutes ticked by, Kane's body began to show signs of attempting to heal. His skin around the attachment point of the robotic arm pulsed and stretched, and the cells worked overtime to integrate the foreign object. But soon, it became clear that something was going terribly wrong.

"His body's in overdrive," Aubrey said, his voice strained with worry. "The nanobots and his immune system are trying to heal everything at once."

Claire watched in horror as Kane's face, once youthful and smooth, began to show signs of rapid ageing. Fine lines etched themselves around his eyes and mouth, deepening into wrinkles within minutes. His hair, already white, seemed to thin slightly, and a pallor settled over his skin.

"What's happening to him?" Claire asked, her voice a mixture of fear and desperation.

Aubrey shook his head, trying to remain calm. "His body is using up all its resources to heal, and it's accelerating his ageing process. We need to stabilise him."

The medical team worked frantically, adjusting the IVs and monitors, administering medications to slow down the rapid cell regeneration. Despite their best efforts, Kane's body continued to age at an alarming rate.

Hours passed, and the once-teenage boy now looked like a man in his forties. His face was gaunt, the lines etched deeply into his skin. His eyes, still closed, were surrounded by dark circles, and his breathing was shallow and laboured.

"He's stabilising," one of the medics finally said, relief evident in their voice. "But he's been through a lot."

Claire and Aubrey helped Kane to his feet, supporting him as he swayed unsteadily. His movements were slow and deliberate, as if every step was a struggle.

"Kane, can you hear me?" Aubrey asked gently, his hand on Kane's shoulder.

Kane nodded weakly, his eyes fluttering open. "Yes... I hear you."

His voice was raspy, and he looked around the room with a mixture of confusion and exhaustion. "What happened to me?"

"We had to attach the robotic arm," Claire explained, her voice soft but steady. "But your body reacted by trying to heal everything too quickly. It caused you to age rapidly."

Kane's eyes widened as he looked down at his hands, now wrinkled and aged. "I... I look so old."

"We're going to fix this," Aubrey assured him. "But first, we need to make sure you're stable."

They helped Kane back onto the table, allowing him to rest while they continued to monitor his vital signs. The room was filled with a sense of quiet urgency. Everyone focused on ensuring Kane's recovery.

Claire stayed by his side, her presence a comforting constant. "How are you feeling?" she asked softly.

"Tired," Kane admitted. "But I'm still here."

"That's what matters," Claire said, squeezing his hand gently. "We're going to get through this, okay?"

Kane nodded, his eyes closing again as exhaustion overtook him. The medical team continued their work, adjusting treatments and making sure that his body was healing correctly this time.

As the hours passed, Kane's condition slowly improved. The rapid ageing seemed to have stopped, and his vital signs were stabilising. He still looked much older than his years, but he was alive and recovering.
