Elliot's POV
"I'm handling it," I spoke to one of the board members as I tried to find where I left off.
"But sir, you just fired two essential board members," he continued. "If we don't find replacements for them soon-"
"I said I'm handling it!" I angrily snapped at him.
Silence filled the room as they all watched me in shock.
I sighed heavily as I slammed my folder shut and walked out.
This isn't like me. I don't shout at my board members.
I'm irritated, hurt, angry, lost.
I can't even concentrate. I have to get out of here.
"Sir?" Mr. Reed, the HR manager called me as I pressed the elevator button. "You still haven't said which director you would like to replace Ms. Sinclair."
Even hearing her name frustrates me.
"I don't know. Find one," I told him. "And while you're at it, find replacements for you and Olivia. You're both fired."
"W-what?" his shaky voice questioned and I turned to look at him.
"Did you really think you could sleep with the boss's wife and not get fired after?" I asked.
"But she said that you two weren't-"
"You sneaked around behind my back," I glared at him. "Find your replacements immediately."
The elevator doors opened and I walked in before heading downstairs.
Michael was already waiting for me out front and he immediately drove off when I entered.
"I picked up your new phone," he said as he handed it to me.
"Thanks," I drily replied as I put the phone box beside me.
I feel so angry right now and it won't go away.
The people I trusted betrayed me. Each one of them.
I never cared for you and I never meant any of the promises I made.
Her words cut through me like a damn knife.
I hate her.
I'll treat her like everyone else who I hate.
She is just like everyone else.
No, she's not. She's the one.
I shook my head. She isn't the one.
It was all an act to fool me, to deceive me, to make me look like an idiot.
I groaned as I leaned back in my seat. "You know the drill Michael."
He smiled. "I will wake you as soon as we reach, sir."
...
"We're here," Michael tapped me and I straightened up.
"Thanks," I said before grabbing my new phone and walking towards the house.
It makes no sense being at work today if I'm just going to snap at everybody.
When I opened the front door, my eyes landed on Olivia coming down the stairs with her suitcase.
"Elliot," she said as I closed the door. "What are you doing back here?"
I got her to sign the divorce papers last night and she was supposed to go back to her parents' this morning.
"I need to be alone right now."
