The moon hung high in the ink-black sky, its silvery light creeping through the tall windows of the penthouse office that belonged to Jungkook Jeon, a name that sent shivers down spines through whispered conversations and pointed fingers. Cold, ruthless, and detached, Jungkook had carved a path through the underworld that overshadowed even the most dangerous criminals. His empire, built on illegal trade and fierce loyalty, was both revered and feared. But despite his youth, he wore the scars of his choices like armor—even against his own father.

The room was sterile, decorated in shades of gray and black, reflecting the temperament of its occupant. The walls were adorned with the spoils of his conquests, a tangible reminder of the life he had created. Tonight, a thick folder beckoned him—a collection of deals and contracts, each page a step deeper into darkness. He rifled through them with calloused fingers, absorbing every detail, when an interruption prowled into his solitude.

“Jungkook,” his father, Mr. Jeon, entered—his expression a mix of resolve and trepidation. The elder Jeon had been searching for the right moment to broach the topic that had been weighing heavily on him for days, but he hesitated, sensing the storm brewing behind his son’s cold façade.

“Can’t you see I’m busy?” Jungkook replied flatly, not bothering to lift his gaze from the files.

Mr. Jeon pressed on, wrestling with his fear as he took a step closer. “I need to speak to you about your future… about your marriage.”

Jungkook’s pen froze mid-stroke, the silence stretching between them like an icy chasm. He finally looked up, his dark eyes piercing and unyielding. “Marriage? I have no interest in such things.”

“I’ve arranged it for you,” Mr. Jeon said, determination creeping into his voice despite the dread lurking in his heart. “You will marry Alessandro’s daughter. It’s a strategic alliance, one that will strengthen our position.”

“Alessandro’s daughter?” Jungkook echoed, each syllable coated in disdain. He brushed the thought aside like a fly buzzing around a banquet table. “I don’t need a leash, Father. I don't want to be shackled by some arrangement.”

Mr. Jeon’s heart raced. He had underestimated the depths of Jungkook’s resolve. The boy he had once known—vulnerable and innocent—had been swallowed by the dark tide of his choices. “You cannot refuse this,” he warned, trying to mask the tremor in his voice. “This alliance is essential for our operations. You need this—”

Jungkook stood abruptly, the chair scraping against the polished floor like nails on a chalkboard. “You’re scared of what I’ve become,” he interjected, his voice low but tinged with a chilling edge. “You don’t want to admit that I am beyond your control. You think I need you? You think I care about some antiquated notion of family and duty? I’ll take this empire where I want it to go, and marriage will not dictate my path.”

“I’m your father!” Mr. Jeon shouted, a surge of desperation leaking through. “You will either find a woman of your choosing or accept this arrangement. I will not see our family legacy at risk because you’re too stubborn to understand what is at stake!”

For a heart-stopping moment, a shadow of doubt flickered in Jungkook's eyes, but it was gone before it could settle. In the world he ruled, he had learned to crush feelings before they could take root. “I will do whatever I see fit,” he stated coldly. “And if you continue to meddle, I won't hesitate to remove any obstacle, including you.”

Mr. Jeon paled, understanding the truth behind those words. Although he had borne the weight of raising his son, it was in this moment that he realized Jungkook had become someone he could not control, someone who could bring him to ruin if provoked.

The younger Jeon’s icy gaze bore into him, an unsettling reminder of the repercussions of his decisions. Their relationship hung by a thread, frayed and fragile, as Jungkook’s ruthless ambition overshadowed everything else.

“I’ll consider your proposal, but make no mistake,” Jungkook said, reclaiming his seat, a king surveying his territory. “I do not bend to pressure—especially not from family.”

With that dismissal ringing heavy in the air, Mr. Jeon retreated, defeat creeping into his heart. Outside the cold confines of the office, he could hear the echoes of power and danger swirling around his son—the fear and respect of men who would rather die than cross him.

As the door shut, Jungkook turned back to his files, the night stretching before him like a canvas of shadows and blood. He would play this game with precision, but he would do it by his own rules. Marriage was a mere footnote in the story he was writing for himself—a story where only the ruthless survived.
