23. SORRY, MR. GREAT.

THEIR HANDS WERE STILL LOCKED together as they made their way through the tomb. Venus couldn't hear the Heka priest anywhere, confirming that Steven must have killed it when he squished it. But a part of her wondered if it even could be killed. After all, surely it was already dead? She tried to push those thoughts out of her head as she followed Steven, feeling his hand tightening around hers as he let out an exhale, his eyes widening when he spotted the room they just entered.
His torch lit their way and in the middle of the room filled with water and rubble was an incredibly well preserved sarcophagus. Light was coming from all around it, keeping the whole room well lit compared to the rest of the tomb.
"First ones in," Steven grinned, "Tomb fit for a pharaoh," He said, carefully walking over the rubble with his hand still holding onto Venus as he watched her carefully, making sure that she wouldn't slip in.
Venus' eyes scanned the walls, letting out an impressed whistle at the condition the drawings on the walls were still in. Surprised that they had held up so well, when the rest of the tomb was caving in on itself.
Steven came to a sudden halt, causing Venus to stumbled into his back as he spotted Marc's reflection in the water. His voice full of anger.
"So, you kissed her."
"You okay?" Venus questioned, furrowing her brows as she looked at Steven, wondering why he stopped.
He let out a gulp as he glanced back at her, "Yeah. Marc's here."
Venus nodded her head, "Ah," She said before she moved around him carefully. Blatantly obvious to his hand as it fell to her waist, helping her jump over some of the rubble towards the sarcophagus to give the two men some space.
"What are you gonna do?" Steven asked, looking down at Marc's reflection, "Try and drown us now?"
Venus' head snapped back in his direction, she pointed at the water, "He better not," She said, shaking her head as she turned around, hearing Steven chuckling under his breath as she entered the room further. Inspecting all the relics that were inside, feeling completely overwhelmed with how much history was right in front of her.
Marc's eyes softened ever so slightly as he glanced in Venus' direction. The feeling of her lips still lingering on his even though Steven had been in charge of the body at the time of the kiss.
"I should," Marc said, looking back at Steven. His jaw tight.
Steven rolled his eyes as he stepped over the rubble, careful not to fall in to the water. He ignored Marc's glares as he walked over to stand by Venus. His eyes filled with as much wonder as her own.
