Chapter 14

¤ Veronica ¤

Veronica spent the whole day looking after clues. Nothing. There was nothing. All the books were about magic, how you use it and what kind of different magic exists. There are no notes or paper. It was too clean. As if someone had been in the room before she found it.

She told Scott to tell the prince to be ready. As night falls she and he are going to visit her friend. Night fell down and she was waiting in the garden for the prince to come. They had ten minutes left before the new guards would take their shifts. Veronica stilled a yawn. She felt her patience running away as the minutes went by without the sight of the prince.

' Where are you?'

To her left the sounds of boots were coming toward her. Silently she took her hidden dagger and waited. Before she could even raise the dagger in position the person talked and she sighed in relief.

'' Sorry I'm late. Thawne wouldn't leave the room.'', Kai whispered.

'' So now it's your time to keep secrets.'' she muttered under her breath.

'' I guess so.'' the prince replied.

Veronica rolled her eyes. She took his hand and said one word, '' Run.''

They had only three minutes left before the new guards would take their shift. She doesn't let go of his hand until they climb the wall. When they come to the mansion, Veronica turns to look at Kai.

He is looking confused at the mansion and turns to look at her with a small frown. '' Why are we here? This is lord Dinozzo's mansion.''

Veronica gives him a smirk when the gate door opens. Without a word she walks forward, knowing that he will follow. The same butler opened the front door and walked them to the office. This time Ron wasn't there.

She went in and walked to his desk and sat down on his chair. She puts her feet up on the desk, hands up clasped behind the neck and waiting.

'' Well, well if it isn't the assassin queen finally returned!''

Veronica rolled her eyes. All in black her friend was smiling at her but when he looked over to the prince his smile went away. Kai and he didn't say anything, just kept looking at each other.

'' You can stop whatever you are doing. We don't have time for this!'' she said and put down her feet from the desk.

'' What is he doing here?'' Ron hissed, looking all red, his hands in fists.

Carefully Veronica said '' Ron....''

He shook his head. '' No, you are going to explain why the crown prince is standing in my office, in my home. How do you not know if he is going to tell the king of this place? I have worked for years to make this place invincible.''

'' Ron...''

'' Sorry but who are you?'' the prince asked, rising up from the chair.

Nobody said anything.

'' I assure you that your secret is safe with me.''

Ronin let out a sarcastic sound. Veronica walked over to Ronin.

'' The person who has been leaving notes to me has also been leaving to the prince. That was how he found me.''

Ronin turned to look at her. ' I told you so.'

Veronica rolled her eyes again and clapped her hands. '' Now before we go into the dark past, let's see if we have any news. ronin have you gotten any information from those notes?''
