Chapter 16

¤ Veronica ¤

They all are sitting in the meeting room, the king with his lords, she, Kai and Thawne. They are all looking at the big screen in front of them. Soon the message of a wedding between Northa and Zhena will come out. Every kingdom will get this message. This is the king's way to tell the other kingdoms that his power will be bigger and nothing will stop him from getting Thena's power. Everybody is waiting for the message to show up on the screen.

Northa's national anthem plays as usual and when it ends the king's face turns up on the screen. When the king starts to speak the screen turns black. The lords look at each other. They know that if the screen doesn't come back to life the king will be angry.

Seconds later the light of the screen makes everybody exhale in relief. But it didn't last long. On the screen wasn't the king they saw. It was the girl who had died on the day they went to Ronin! This time the girl had a loosely fitting shawl on the head and she didn't look dead.

'' Dear Northa and the royal family, you probably remember me! Two months ago I got executed for using magic, but I'm not here to talk about me today. I'm on the plaza with the view of our beautiful castle in front me to give you all a message. They are back... and when they have come in through your doors nothing will stop them. Because the things you took away from them will be taken back. I warn you dear people of Northa, either run or hide. Because the fight we have waited for centuries is here!''

The screen turned black. Everybody looked at each other, the tension in the room was so thick that everybody held their breath. The king looked pissed! His face was all red and he started to roar to stop the video from reaching other kingdoms.

' Too late!'

Veronica wanted to laugh. The rebels sure knew humor and how to use it.

'' Your majesty, the video is played again to the other kingdoms, to everybody.''

The king watched the technician as if he wanted to kill him. The king leaned forward.

'' You either find a way to stop the video or I will make sure there is no tomorrow for you, understood!''

The technician was already nervous but after the king's word his whole face turned pale. '' Yes, your majesty.'' With hurried hands he took his things and almost ran out of the room. Hours later the video got turned down, but the damage had already done its work. The people of Northa closed their stores. The parents didn't send their kids to school. Most of them had already begun to pack their belongings to run.

Veronica, Kai and Thawne were sitting in his room. Their plan began today to lure out the protector. They were going to give false information to them.

'' I have to go to the Piazza, I got word that people had seen the princess with the rebels. I think she is there. We have arrested rebels there. I'm going there in an hour.''

Two hours later and nothing. She was standing outside the Piazza bar at the back alley and waited for two hours for someone to come. No one. She knew that Thawne and Scott were somewhere in the shadows watching. No one has come.

' Did the person understand the trap?'

The weather is cold today, passing for the king on how the day turned for him with the video. Just then she sees a black silhouette coming towards her. Her back is turned to the back alley wall. The place smells like puke and dead animals.

'' Mm, if it isn't my protector, finally I have been waiting for you.''

The person in front of her has a cloak with a hood, all in black. She couldn't see if it was a woman or a man. The person takes a few steps forward, the way the person is walking tells her that he is sure of himself.
