"So what's the plan then? You use your magic hearing to save the day?" Ah Tyler, you have more sass than a girl on her period don't you? Ah, another reason I love yo- no! I meant, another reason you are my best friend... yeah...that's what it was.

"No- well yes, but later. I think we should stay here for now. So we can rest and... prepare ourselves." Tyler peaks over at me, something akin to concern flashing in his eyes. "When we go outside, there's no telling what we'll encounter. And let's not leave the living room. If something happens, I don't want to be split up. There isn't much we can do now, so do some mental exercises."

I can't help the question bubbling up my throat, "Mental exercises? Like munks? Meditation shit? Wanna sit criss-cross applesauce and visit a place that brings us peace in our minds?" I hear Aidan giggle from where he lays beside his cousin.

"No. Imagining yourself in certain situations and seeing how youll react."

"That's literally what I said!" Yet another giggle from the blond, "Shut it blondie!"

Ashlyn ignores the two of us, continuing with her explanation, " Anytime you aren't asleep, that's what you should be doing."

"Yeah great plan. Daydream and sleep with monsters outside the door"

Ashlyn and I both roll our eyes at the boy, "Well take turns keeping look out. Logan- is the time still twelve?"

"O-oh um- I'll check." The poor boy is practically vibrating in fear, I scoot over, patting his back softly, rubbing soothing circles across his shirt, I hear him sigh, relaxing slightly. "...it hasn't changed." I see Tyler staring at us out of the corner of my eye. He...does not look happy, his gaze trained on where my hand sits on Logan's back...weird.

"Alright, well, keep resetting the time every hour then. I'll take first shift, who wants to go after?"

"I will." I wiggle my fingers up in the air. "Not tired anyway."

"Insomniac." I hear Tyler mumble

"What was that?"

"Nothing!" The two of us glare at each other for a few moments after that.

The night continues on, the seven of us taking up shifts to watch out for the demons outside. At one point I nearly have a heart attack because Tyler's hand ends up draped over my waist, his head resting on my thigh.

I wake up, wondering what's going on as I notice I'm back in my bed with the other girls I'm roomed with. "The hell?" I mumble, rubbing my head softly.

Shift

"Ughhhh. What-"  I jump up, running to the bathroom, an overwhelming sickness washing over me as I double over the toilet. I briefly recognize Taylor and Ashlyn joining me, one over the tub and the other next to me. God this is so gross.

"Taylor! Ashlyn! Yn! Are you there?!"

"Ah-found them!" I hear Audi and voice in the doorway, more footsteps following him close behind as he shoves the girls gathered at the door away.

"Move!" Tyler's voice is like reprieve as I feel him kneel down next to his twin and eye, gathering out hair and pulling the strands back.

Soon groans fill the air again, another wave coming down on us all. This sucks ass.

-Present day-

"I still think we should go back to Savannah." Ughhh not this again.

"...Alright, let's take some time to think on it. Again. And have a group vote tonight." I can tell Ashlyn is tired, rubbing her head softly as she sighs.

"Why not after school." Oh my god! Tyler!

"Because I have ballet class today."

"So what? Skip it." That's not how that works. You should know- you play a sport.

"Uh Ty? We have stuff to do after school too. You have baseball practice and I have a mechanics meeting." Thank you Taylor.

"Yeah- I also have Lacross today." I pipe up, leaning over slightly to look at my friend.

"...I um, I have to help at the flower shop today.."

"See? Logan and Yn are busy too. Even with what's happening, we can't just neglect school and our future. You need baseball, let's just wait till tonight-" I can see Tyler getting angry, his teeth clenching so hard I'm scared they'll crack. I press my hand to his back, my other hand going to grab his arm.

"Hey Ty. Let's calm down ye-" he shoves my body away from him, nearly causing me to fall over.

"We aren't going to have a 'future' if we're dead!"

"It's not just our future. If we drop everything to focus on fantasy-like events we can't prove, we're going to end up in a psyche ward. Do you think that's going to make it easier or harder for all of us to have meetings during the day?" Ok girl. Pop off.

"She's got a point, y'know, generally we're what people call 'crazy'." No offense Aidan, but you were crazy before.

"Whatever." Tyler stands up, marching over to the trash with his tray before turning back, taking Taylor and I's arms and storming away again. Ugh sometimes he is such a baby.

"Tyler can we please work on calming down?" We're walking down the hallways now, Taylor finding an excuse to run off.

He grunts, scuffing his shoe across the floor. I take that as a yes and stand in front of him, taking his hands in my own and looking up to his eyes. "Remember what we used to do?"

He looks down at the floor, nodding silently.

"Tyler. Look at me." He does, our eyes meeting, his jaw still clenched. "You're gonna break your teeth." One of my hand leaves his own, rubbing at his jaw that begins to slacken at my ministrations. "There we go." My voice is so soft it's basically a whisper in the silent hall. "Now, can you tell me what colors you see in this hallway?"

He lists off the colors, and we continue the grounding game we made all those years ago. I found that it helped if I talked him through and distracted him from his anger.

By the time he's calmed down, his hand somehow ended up looped around my waist, his head buried in my shoulder as I rub his back softly, my check pressed to his neck. "I don't blame you, you know? I understand your feelings and your pain and it's ok to feel that. I'm always here for you ok?" I pull back slightly, his hands still wrapped around me, mine cupping his face. "Can you smile for me?"

He sighs, flashing a toothy grin that's clearly exaggerated. "Perfect." I giggle softly, and we just pause. The world just pauses for a moment. It's just us, just us in that moment and I lose myself in his eyes.

And
Before I know what's happening,
his lips
are
on mine.

Okkkk and that's done. I again am so sorry for the long wait but I hope I did ok. I love y'all so much, thank you for the support.
