Galaxy of the Mustelids: A Spinoff of "The Ferret Universe"

Prologue

My name is Lester. And it wouldn't be cocky for me to say that I'm perhaps the most important ferret in my Universe. Along with my beloved Lula, of course. Both of us are Ferret Forefounders, the first two ferrets who ever breathed life in our Universe of Ferretopia and spawned the entire generation of ferrets in our Alpha-Ferretopia Worldline.

And guess what? We had the honor of doing that in another Worldline, in another Universe. There came a time when the Power Beyond Time and Space seemed to have created a parallel dimension that we will refer to as the Other Universe. Or the Other Dimension.

Or... the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline, as we refer to it when we are in that Worldline.

When the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline was created, Lula and I were called by the Power Beyond Time and Space to embark on an exciting adventure. We were called to invite some of our ferret descendants in Ferretopia to dwell in identical ferret bodies in that Other Universe, where we would experience life with other beings in that Other Universe for a temporary time before returning back to our own Worldline of Ferretopia. Not all our descendants were called for this adventure, but those who were had accepted the calling.

Thus, the ferrets who were chosen became known as the Dimensional Jumpers. Some of them were still dwelling in their physical bodies in the Alpha-Ferretopia Worldline, some were already in spiritual bodies with me and Lula in the Time-Independent Reality.

Lula and I used a special power to transfer the Dimensional Jumpers' souls to new, identical ferret bodies in the parallel dimension of the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline. Thus, for several million years, there were a handful of ferrets who remained asleep in the Alpha-Ferretopian Worldline because their souls were dwelling in duplicate bodies in the parallel dimension of the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline. Lula and I remained in our spiritual bodies, however, as we watched over both the ferrets who remained in Ferretopia and the Dimensional Jumper ferrets in the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline.

The Dimensional Jumper ferrets experienced life with other species of creatures who were similar yet different from us. In the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline, our chosen ferret descendants dwelled with creatures known as weasels, otters, wolverines, badgers, stoats, and a long list of other funny names. Though we were all different species, we all shared something similar in our biology so that we could consider one another as "family," under the umbrella name of "mustelid."

When time was up in the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline, Lula and I transferred the souls of our ferret descendants back to their sleeping bodies in the Alpha-Ferretopian Worldline. Their sleeping bodies were still hovering around the TrioStars. They were awakened, and they were all able to resume life in the Alpha-Ferretopian Worldline with all their memories preserved. The only memories they didn't have were the memories of the lives they had lived in the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline. They were aware that they were Dimensional Jumpers who had lived a lifetime in another dimension for a while, though they had no memory of what they had done in that other dimension.

However, they would remember their lifetime in the other dimension once their souls entered spiritual bodies in the Time-Independent Reality, where they would be able to do what Lula and I were doing— observe any moment in time at either Worldline, and dwell harmoniously in the presence of the Power Beyond Time and Space and other wonderful beings created by such Power.

As a matter of fact, Lula and I were able to see that both Worldlines would end well.

We were able to see that when time was up in both Worldlines, all mustelids would all transition to spiritual bodies, in perfected, ever-improving versions of themselves, authentically choosing to thrive with the Power Beyond Time and Space for all eternity.

Lula and I were unable to witness the details or certain stepwise processes of how all would end well—such a power was left to the Power Beyond Time and Space. But we were glad to see that, no matter how awful life would go for them in the Time-Dependent Reality, all our children would eventually reach a point where they would authentically grow and flourish and experience the true beauty of life.

Lula and I were hovering side by side in the Time-Independent Reality right now, engaged in a banter with the Forefounders of two other mustelid species—Weasel Forefounders Eddard and Elaundra, and Otter Forefounders Percy and Priscilla.

Something groundbreaking was going to happen in the Alpha-Mustelidae Worldline. But we couldn't tell our descendants all the details. Heh! I mean, we didn't even understand all the details, despite being immortals. Hence, why we had to allow ourselves and our descendants to experience our own free will in the Time-Dependent Reality, in order for the Time-Dependent Worldlines to unravel the way they will.
