Eleven
It's been a week since the night I had a meeting with Louis and his promoters.
We met at this expensive diner. Louis fetched me and we rode his car towards the meeting place. When we arrived, I was pretty tense. I mean, who wouldn't be? Louis might have seen my hands shaking and sweating. Before we went out of his car, he gave me a reassuring pat on the shoulder. I looked back at him and smiled.
"Don't be nervous. You'll do good, mate." Louis told me reassuringly.
"I hope so." I answered him genuinely. I really want to do the offer. Why not? First, I can work with Louis during my free time. Second, it will be a worth-it experience! Any arts student would want that.
We went out of the car and walked towards the door. The guard opened the door for us. Inside the restaurant, people were dressed formally, just like Louis and I. I'm wearing black coat, black slacks, and yellow tie. Louis insisted that yellow goes well with black and since I like the color yellow, I listened to his suggestion. Wait, have I told you how much I like bananas? Bananas are life! Never mind.
Louis stopped at the table next to the glass walls of the restaurant. I was expecting two or three people aside from Louis but then it turned out that there are six people we are meeting. Holy fuck! I swallowed the lump on my throat and stared at them while Louis talked to them about who knows what. I was on a trance until Louis shook my shoulders.
"Harry?"
"Oh, shit." I whispered silently.
"So, Harry, here are the promoters and the partners for the exhibit."
We said our hi's and 'good evenings' while I shook everyone's hands. I was tense at first but since I'm used to dinners like this, I made it through the night. Louis told them that he saw how I work and he actually saw some of my artworks. By that time, I've shown them some of my paintings. Kendall Jenner, one of Louis' partner photographers, told me how beautiful and implicit my artworks are. She actually asked me playfully to paint a portrait of her naked. I almost spit the wine I was drinking but I was able to maintain my composure.
Well, who wouldn't be shocked? Kendall is pretty and she's got a model's body; my type of girl.
Everyone else laughed. At the end of the dinner, I accepted their offer and they told me how grateful they are to have me as an artist. I told them how much thankful I am and all that flowery but genuine words.
After the dinner, Louis took me home. As we got out of the restaurant, I ran towards his car fast while shouting.
"Woooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" Louis laughed at my silliness. He walked towards me and gave me a hug, settling me from my adrenaline rush. I stopped shouting and hugged him back.
"I'll do my best, Lou. You won't regret recommending me."
"Congratulations, Haz. Of course, I won't." He pulled out of the hug, smiled the Louis smile, and proceeded to the driver's seat. I got into the car and we drove home while listening to some pop songs we don't actually know.
It's been a week since our meeting. I've started working with the murals they needed for the exhibit. I came over to Louis more often to work out with the ideas for backdrops, which meant, I had less time to sleep since I have to balance my time with uni and the exhibit works.
I was sitting on his couch while scribbling on my sketch pad when Louis went to the kitchen to make some sandwich. When he came back, I'm frowning because I can't think of the best idea for the murals and I only have a month left!
