Y/n's POV
"We're the Rangers and we're so cool!"
"When you look at us it'll make you drool!"
I got tossed into the air, Allison and Daisy being there to catch me. This time, instead of a football game, we're at the girls basketball game.
I don't even know why we're here, it's not like anyone shows up anyways. The only people here are parents being forced here against their will.
We were going against the South High cougars, and we were loosing, bad.
By half time the score was 36 to 9. During half time we went on the court and did our stupid little routine and tried to raise some school spirit. The parents were not amused..
I saw Connor in the crowd, laughing with a few of his football friends, shocked to see him here, I gave him an awkward wave.
The ref blew his whistle, signaling half time was over, as the players, including Billie, came running onto the court. She was by far the best player on the team, but I don't know if her alone could make this big of a comeback.
Billie's POV
"Alright we gotta have the biggest comeback ever, or die trying!" I spoke to the team. A chorus of "yeah!" Erupted from them. "Uhm Billie?" Natalie questioned from the small huddle of girls.
I looked over to her. "Yea?"
"I'm not gonna die over a Highschool basketball game!" She spoke, clearly concerned. I rolled my eyes at her and laughed. "It's a metaphor, plus, you'll be on the bench anyways."
She nodded. "You're right."
"Are we gonna beat the cougars?!" I asked, trying to get the rest of the team pumped.
"Probably not.."
"Yeah no."
"Uhhh......"
I sighed. "Guys can we at least try to be a little positive?" I asked. They all shrugged and nodded in agreement. "Ok so are we gonna beat the cougars?!"
"Yeah!"
"Yes!!!"
"WHOOOOO"
We got into our starting positions and were ready to play harder than ever before. My teammate, Brooke, went to the jump ball as the ref blew his whistle and threw the ball into the air.
~~~
We still lost. 54 to 21, I could see the parents disappointedly leaving the stands. The cheerleaders looked bored, almost as if they expected this!
I was going to go to the locker rooms to hear a speech from coach about how "we didn't loose because they were better they just wanted it more!" Type of bullshit.
Someone grabbed my arm and I was ready to punch them in the face. Before I saw who it was. "Y/n? Do you need something?"
She immediately let go of my arm, seeming a bit nervous and flustered. "Oh! Uhm I just wanted to say that- you uh did good, even though you guys lost and stuff..." She trailed off during the last part. I smiled at her. "Thanks that means a-"
"Hey baby ready to go?" Connor spoke, her BOYFRIEND, Connor. She nodded and kissed him on the cheek, telling him to wait in the car for her. He hummed and went to the parking lot.
"Sorry you were saying?" She asked. I could feel my smile fall. "Oh I just said thanks." And pushed past her into the locker rooms.
Y/n is straight, Y/n has a boyfriend! Y/n likes boys and I'm not a boy.
